OS Premiere: Pluralist - Vases [Pressure Dome]

With a glimmer of optimism on the horizon, we’re delighted to announce our second V/A compilation Psycho/Soma - the first of many exciting releases for 2021.

12 tracks to move body & mind, spanning a full spectrum of UK club music - from introspective, tripped-out rollers to intense percussive workouts and frantic 160(ish) action.

To accompany the release, we’re creating our first ever run of limited edition, long-sleeve, 100% organic cotton, peta-approved t-shirts, designed by UK-based independent graphic artist Alex Vissaridis.

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, we released our first compilation ‘Remote Access’, which has so far raised over £1000 for the Trussell Trust. We’d like to continue to use these V/As to support causes we’re passionate about, so a portion of the label’s profits for this release will be split between three prominent mental health charities who we feel are doing important work in the UK - Mind, YoungMinds & Black Minds Matter.

In celebration of the release of INTRP005 from Manchester based producer Dulha, Interpolate recruit leftfield bass and techno champion Pluralist to fashion Dulha's 'Lotus' into a bewitching UK Techno delight.

Dulha is a Manchester based producer with a respect for dance music of all kinds, striving to create music with intricacy and rawness. He takes influence from an array of styles, ranging from UK variants such as Grime and Jungle to other genres such as Electro, Ambient and Soundtrack.

In April 2021, Dulha's debut EP 'C-Life / Lotus' was released on Interpolate Records. With more recent additions to his catalogue, Dulha contributed a half time groover packed with plenty of weighty bass to the Daytimers collectives second charity compilation in response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in India.

Pluralist (Will Bowen) is an up-and-coming, Birmingham/Bristol based DJ, originally hailing from Cheltenham. His most recent release, ‘Gallak’, was picked up by Circular Jaw, gaining support from artists like Hypho, Doctor Jeep & Madam X.

He also runs Module 8, a new party in Bristol, focusing on broken, stompy techno. His next release, “Different Sides’, is coming out this October with Chequered Wax. The idea behind this 4 track EP is music that fits both the club and sit down listening.

Pseudopolis returns to Redstone Press with an Eris Drew remix under her new Bassbin 23 alias!

Label co-boss Pseudopolis touches down on Redstone Press for the third time. If you’ve heard the last two you know the drill.

Taking no prisoners from the outset, “High For Life” establishes the mood of the EP, combining unrelenting breaks, bouncing basslines and a big-room energy that acts like a pressure release after many nights making music with no clubs in sight, a track that doesn’t loosen its grip throughout.

“Euphoria Inc.” keeps the room at boiling point with Pseudopolis expertly fusing climatic rave energy, broken breakbeats and a murky Reece bassline into an equally euphoric yet foreboding warehouse tool.

“Haze Runner” continues with the ruffneck breaks but raises the bpms and dread level, sounding like something that would soundtrack your teenage weed psychosis or your current 6AMs spent in front of your favourite Jungle sound system’s bassbins. Speaking of bassbins…

We are delighted to welcome Eris Drew to the label under her new guise “Bassbin23”. Years of dancing, rejoicing and playing dusty warehouse raves have informed this rendition of “High for Life”, stripping it back to a fun filled 4x4 rave weapon. We couldn’t think of anyone better to do the first remix on the label, bigups to you Eris!

Amman-based Toumba announces Rosefinch, his first EP on wax, and the debut release from London-based record label Hypnic Jerks. The Jordanian DJ, producer and sound designer integrates elements from Jordanian and Levantine folk music into his left-leaning, low-end heavy club sounds. The EP is named after the national bird of Jordan.

Toumba is a curator at MNFA, a club and arts space in Jordan’s capital Amman. It has become a haven for the country’s artistic community in the face of a conservative establishment that often harbours a hostile attitude towards the types of cultural expression that MNFA champions.

A nationally respected artist, Toumba also holds a residency at the MMAG Foundation in Amman. The foundation works with a selection of the most gifted artists in the Levant (Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine), providing a space for artistic research, production and critical discourse.

Multipack of Limes is a percussive workout dotted through with zesty keys, building up to a driving lead that recalls the keyboard players of Jordanian weddings. Shurooq and Sa7rawi are both representative of Jordan's beautiful pink-tinted deserts. Shurooq, meaning 'sunrise', is a slow burner, which builds anticipation through its synth and percussive elements before a huge weighty sub-bass ties the track together. Sa7rawi, an aggressive peak-time chugger, evocatively conveys the beauty and harsh ruggedness of the desert's terrain. Lil Amam Sir, a term used in the army meaning "march forward", is one for the DJs: a four to the flour banger complete with microtonal polyrhythm synth hits that are sure to get the crowd two-stepping like clockwork.

Hessle Audio welcome Laksa to the label with three tracks of rowdy and forward-thinking dance music, following his last release on Timedance in September.

On the A-side, ‘Fire Kit’ sees the London-based producer and DJ approaching his sound from a different direction, with dancehall infused percussion offset by enveloping layers of sub-bass warmth at 95bpm.
The B side jacks up the tempo with a raucous energy as the temperature drops to below freezing. Basslines rumble in ‘Belly Brocka’ and ‘T’s Tent’ like an approaching storm and snares lash through the mix like ice picks, with the broken rhythmic energy driving the dance forward in 2021 and beyond.

Running the club night and monthly NTS show ‘re:lax’ with re:ni, Laksa has been consistently pushing bass mutations since his early EPs on Beneath’s Mistry label. A Bristol bass bobbler at heart, his hybrid sound has found a home on many respected labels such as Timedance, Ilian Tape and Whities, cementing his place amongst the latest UK talent.
