Following the May release of his debut album “Rising Despite Circumstances” we celebrate Adam Gillett’s record with a very special collection of interpretations and reimaginings “Rising Despite Circumstances: Remixed”.

For this collection we’ve assembled a truly monumental troupe of producers to give their takes on the anthemic and ethereal originals and the 11 takes that comprise this remix record represent a staggeringly diverse breadth of styles, genres, and tones all while keeping the heart of the original record beating.

Brooklyn based artist Luko M kicks off the proceedings with a lush gently glitchy rearrangement of the album opener “Can We Do Better?” answered by UK producer Grant Deane’s hauntingly ethereal and tender rework of the same tune. Our good friend, Bay area’s Benito keeps things airy on his sparse and gorgeous take on “Like An Animal” giving way to King Grump’s endlessly groovy flip of “Reap What You Sow”. Aussie art pop duo Ducks! turn “Still Going Round In Circles” into a delicious dub odyssey, leading the way for German system heater expert Dogpatrol to melt some faces with a simply rude bass driven take on “Like An Animal”.

Ibiza based Woodland Creature Tsodor turns up with the kind of dancefloor smasher he’s made a name for unleashing upon unexpecting dancers with his storming “Reap What You Sow” flip - opening the floor for living legend Timo Maas’s simply devastating DJ weapon of a rework of mid album banger “Check Yo Stamina On The Reg”. Keeping the dancefloor moving comes Special Zip’s gloriously playful and infectiously vibey play with “Like An Animal”. Midlands resident breaks enthusiast Rawtrachs drops a decidedly euphoric and old school take on the same track before the record comes to stunning conclusion with long time collaborator and dear friend Justin Margovan’s complex, driving and deeply atmospheric rework of “Reap What You Sow” as Nihon Ten.

Orainn is a new label set up by R.Kitt. Over the coming months, the label will serve as an outlet to release much of the productions that have been highlights of R.Kitt's live show from 2019 and more recently. Orainn means "on us" in Irish. The name references how emotion is described in Irish language. A person doesn't say that they are feeling something in Irish but rather they say that that feeling is on them. This description of emotion seems to be a far more accurately transient way to view emotion than the rather static English alternative. Music is fundamentally an emotional form of communication, and one of the most profound places where that musical emotional experience can be shared is on the dancefloor. Joined together by rhythm and movement, the strength of the emotional experiences of those moments are not generated by one of us, but by the gathered power of all of us. That feeling is not just on you or on me, but it is on us, Orainn.

Typeless Mix 24: RONI

Newcastle's 12 year old party Ape-X continue to build their label of the same name after 2 high octane releases from MARSKE & REES. Release number 3 comes from newcomer Dyslecta making his first full EP debut on the label with a remix from friend and rising UKG mixologist Glockta.

Dyslecta is prodigious production talent, and the latest unique voice to emerge from the current scene in Newcastle and the North East of England, which is currently proving to be one of the most fertile in the country right now.

Dyslecta inherited a love for electronic music through his father but, due being born and raised in rural East Yorkshire, had little recourse to engage with the medium other than by obsessively immersing himself fully in the online electronic music world while at home. 

This intense yet disconnected consumption of electronica has to lead to a unique methodology in making his music, and a style of DJing that has seen him rapidly gain attention for himself since moving to study in Newcastle, securing a residency at one of the cities most well respected long standing House and Techno Parties, Ape-X.  

2020 sees Dyslecta release his debut EP on Ape-X Records.
Musically straddling the experimental sweet spot nestled at the nexus of Dub Techno, Electro, and Hardcore, his first-ever release calls to mind masters like Drexciya and Claro Interlecto, as well as contemporary artists like Skee Mask and Hodge. It speaks of a depth of understanding that belies his tender years and hints at a very exciting future.
