instalment of the SMPLR imprint. This project brings together a collective of like-minded artists from across South Africa, uniting their works within a thematic and genre-focused package. SMPLR02 shines a spotlight on the rapidly evolving techno scene in the country, showcasing a diverse range of moods and styles that span from deep and hypnotic to the more robust and groove-centric cuts.

This release aims to distill the distinct and varied sonic identities of these artists into a cohesive collection, purposefully tailored for the discerning DJ. Each track serves as a powerful dance-floor tool, destined to find its rightful place on your USB. Among the tracks, you'll discover familiar faces from the label's roster as well as fresh newcomers, all contributing their unique artistic vision to this offering. Featured artists include Faretrade, MVLS, AESKA, Terminus, Justyn Nell, Paz Shina, Tiro!, Novelty, Engram and SSEN.

Do you ever just want to call someone? Like for example your old buddies from the dubstep forum you called your friends in 2008, but you never met in real life?

You got into a big fight over the bro-stepification of the sound, and you lost not just your spirit but also your friends that went deeper into the doomed direction the genre was going. While you found assurance and peace in a post-dubstep world, that made the club-specific production finally listenable on your iPod classic headphones.

I know it's hard out here and dubstep has not been the same. Sometimes somewhere at a festival for a moment you may think it's back and everything can be as you remember it.
Yet, it's also ok that it's not. Maybe it's time to move forward and let things of the early 2000s be what they were.

Beatrice M. can’t bring you back your youth. They were probably even too young to use a computer back then. But for some reason this is what their new 2 Track Single “Call / Response” brings us back to. Reminiscing about the roots of an omnipresent genre while emerging with their own production style. Familiar sounds spin perfectly placed over a punchy kick drum. Simple, pure and genius. It’s a new direction for them, twisting their technoid and dub oriented influences, yet also an educated ode to the many productions that defined the sound of Beatrice.

“Call / Response” is a bass heavy love affair, calling on all the right highs and lows for the heads. Go buy it!

opposites attract was developed in parallel by utilizing one another's samples with the intention of having an "a" and "b" side. during the arranging process the idea of the "side" seemed to lack importance. each track seemed to complete each other rather than to establish a hierarchy. the numerical order is irrelevant.

RED010 marks a powerful statement of intent as we look to the next five years and beyond whilst reflecting on our achievements so far, what we aspire to accomplish and how we can continue to push the sounds that resonate with us. Although it has taken time to reach this milestone, our commitment to quality over quantity remains unwavering.

This compilation serves not only as a collection of club-ready tracks but also as a longform piece suitable to more passive listening. With a total of 14 tracks, it stands as our most extensive release yet, expanding our label family to well over 20 artists. The digital release will be complemented by a physical cassette, perfect for playing in the dusty tape deck of your mate's Vauxhall Corsa as you head to that mad rave in the countryside everyone is talking about.

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) on this project with all the profits being donated to this cause. Both Lewis & Ethan have their own personal experiences with mental health difficulties and strongly believe that SAMH is absolutely vital in facilitating the provision and promotion of mental health care, support & information.

“Anclaje” es el tercer trabajo en solitario del productor y dj valenciano norim. Sus dos cortes se sitúan entre la pertenencia y el extrañamiento, sirviendo como medio para conectar con el cuerpo y abandonar el plano racional.

Es por ello que, tanto “Cruzado” como “Tendido”, simbolizan un oasis suburbano en medio de bloques de cemento y asfalto: compacto y sin embargo liviano. Pensados desde y para el soundsystem; constituyen dos herramientas fundamentales para lxs amantes del Dub/Bass y las líneas de bajo densas y cadenciosas.

“Cruzado” es el inicio de un descenso forzado a la corporalidad. Acompañado de unos toques sutiles de instrumentación etérea y sirenas, los drums espaciados se entremezclan con un bajo potente que no necesita competir para ganarse el puesto de protagonista principal.

“Tendido” nos mete de lleno en un ritmo poderosamente sincopado, atravesando valles y pendientes sin dejarnos más alternativa que la de “bailar bajito”, aproximadamente a la altura del subgrave que apunta directamente a las entrañas.

“Anclaje” is the third solo release from Valencian producer and DJ norim, composed of two cuts situated somewhere between pulls of belonging and the pushes of estrangement where the rational mind can be left behind.

Symbolising something of a suburban oasis amidst a jungle of concrete and asphalt, “Cruzado'' and “Tendido” are compact yet light pockets of sound. These essential tools for lovers of the intersection between Dub and Bass are packed with pressurised basslines and rhythms made with a soundsystem in mind.

Corporeal opening track “Cruzado” begins and forces us to descend into our bodies as touches of ethereal instrumentals and sirens move us through spaced-out drums and a powerful bassline that takes the lead in the composition.

Visceral cut “Tendido” then immerses us in a powerfully syncopated rhythm, traversing peaks and troughs of sound that leave our dancing bodies no choice but to sink down to a level approximately at the height of a subwoofer.
