Cofounder of the Brussels label based Sketchy Lines records.  Born and raised in Algeria, Kamoun is a DJ and producer drawing inspiration from the instruments found in traditional Berber music. 

He confronts the tribal percussion with the heavy sound of modern electronic music, to emerge in a hypnotic state. Kamoun is obsessed with polyrhythmic drums and inspired by minimalist field and British bass culture.

The city was cold at night, the wind howled as he huddled in the doorway. He watched and waited.

People came and went, they weren’t right. Only someone special might be able to appreciate and understand the importance of five light point.

Bristol record label SSS releases three tracks of weird, mutant, abstract Bass music. Wobbly textures and off piste drums reinforce what is a wonky ride through deconstructed dance music.

Having already graced last year’s uu006 EP, the debut proper kicks it with a triple-pronged maelstrom of IDM tendency and cut-throat, gnashing electro. 3 unruly wreckers fuelled on ominous portent, spite and worn samples of Ainsley Harriot tripping on psychedelics.

It’s a mean streak of the fetid and unfettered – no messing, just a trio of malevolent excursions with added texture.

DRX004 marks a new direction for label head Doctor Jeep’s musical journey, this time exploring the sonic possibilities of slowwwww bass music. “Snake Eyes” twists a Baile Funk beatbox sample into a robotic earworm, while “Pax” channels pitched-down electro and the sludgy hybrid sounds coming out of Bristol. “The Hypnotist” closes out the EP as a psychedelic dancehall mutation perfect for those late, late nights.
