Simona Cosimi is a singer songwriter living between Rome and London. Born in Rome, Italy, she began to sing Blues while attending university, joining local bands. Overtime, she began performing a repertory which came to include Jazz standards, Swing and Bossa, sung in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Besides, Simona began writing original songs, initially in her mother tongue, later in English, combining smooth Jazz with Pop, Soul and Bossa which led Simona to record her first EP "Don't call me my love". In London she is singing both Jazz Standards repetoires and her original works, and has perfomed, among others, at Ronnie Scott's Upstairs and The Spice of Life, with some of the finest Jazz musicians in London. 

Available for Duo, Trio as well as full band performances with The Jazz American SongBook repertory or original songs. Available for private events. 

About "Don't call me my love": 
"I had never considered of writing songs in English. It simply happened one day: a phrase and a melody kept buzzing around my mind. That buzz became "Don't call me my love". The freedom of that birth resonate in my voice, that I feel free as I was a soul interpreter. I was looking for a personal singing style, so I felt I had to get rid of the Italian jazz approach, that I was feeling too academic, let’s say. 
But nothing grows from nothing. Led by my passion for Jazz music - and aware that I didn't have a Jazz vocal training back-ground - I started to listen and study to British and Scandinavian music: I loved the way in which they mixed jazz with pop, soul, or electronic music melted together as in a magic potion. 
I followed my feelings and discovered I was strongly inspired. After a few weeks I composed most of the songs that you can find in my cd. I strongly wanted Jazz to be my attraction pole. Starting from that, I picked some strongly characterising elements from other genres: the acoustic trip-trop of Give it a meaning, or Sweetest thing‘s ska, or the country blues echoes of I relived my dreams. I just let them naturally harmonise with the rest, with no judgment and no prejudices. The result is this recording where I wrote both lyrics and music."
