We are extremely proud and excited to present DE/FRAGMENT’s third annual VA compilation. As customary in DE/FRAGMENT, we gave no guidelines to the artists to pursue a specific sound/emotion/style – we strive for our collaborators to express their vision unadulterated by expectation or rules.

This year’s compilation is more introspective and overall lighter in tone compared to our previous VAs, but it does not mean it lacks moments of darkness and club-oriented drive. With every year (and every VA we release), the world is becoming more uncertain, dystopian, and hopeless regarding a prosperous future.

For us at DE/FRAGMENT, it would seem the more balanced, dynamic range of VA3 in terms of emotion and soundscape reflects different approaches to coping with increasing uncertainty in the world.

For example, one might build a dreamy, cushion-like retreat in one’s mental palace of Selgor’s Computer, or one can fully surrender to the relentless pace of modern living, and enjoy the ride while it lasts – preferably in Obscur’s club with 2 Floors and a Basement, sprinkled with a copious dose of self-indulgent hedonism.

For full enjoyment, we recommend you listen to the VA in the given track order, as the track order plays a large role in our releases on how we thought the tracks flow best.
