After his first podcast for Asphalt, the nuum's most prized dormant cell, David M is back, as promised, with the second instalment of the series.

Recorded around 12 years ago, the Galician explorer David M showcases yet here again the sharpness of his machete, his years of nuum' scholarship, and the depth and quality of his record collection, whilst he navigates us seamlessly through the thick asphalt jungle. 

In this mix you can easily get lost in Jamaican influenced Amen's, deadly deep subs as Dilinja would say, pitched diva voices, rampant hoovers, and all the characteristic elements of the 94-96 ruffness era which we all love and cherish to this day (¿Is there something better 30 years after, is it?).

After this second release, the last one of his canned mixes that Asphalt publishes exclusively, our favourite Ronin will dramatically grab his headphones, place is black hoody over his head, holster his katana and disappear again from the public sight until he is summoned again to duty. 

We will indeed miss him. But as the Bass Selective song below says:

Anna Superlasziv s'est fait un nom dans la scène underground de Marseille avec ses sets ghetto electro et fast techno qu'elle mélange à des basses acids, de la rave et des rhytmiques breakés.  Dans ses débuts, elle évolue surtout dans le milieux free et queer, étant membre du  collectif Discordance Techno Queer Marseille, un collectif de DJ, VJ et projets lives. Puis, au rythme de ses coups de cœur, elle s'inspire plus en plus du UK underground et des connections musicaux d' Europe Centrale pour developer son stil dynamique, déterminé, et plein des surprises.

Anna Superlasziv cut her teeth in techno with the Marseille based Discordance collective, and is a regular name in the french queer underground scene. Her love for fast techno, acid basslines, breaky beats and 80s rave is reflected in her 'can't stop moving sets' which switch up the pace at a moments notice.

Label boss Schtu returns to Casomat with 'The Magician EP', a four-track release showcasing a slightly more nuanced side to his production style - one which he has previously only flirted with. Broken beats, stripped-back basslines, and even a track where, in his own words, "nothing much happens". For the Berlin-based producer and DJ, it’s a step into largely uncharted territory. Still, even though the EP demonstrates diversity in terms of mood and aesthetic, it still retains the melodic sensibilities and sharp arrangements that have become synonymous with Schtu's productions.

So, what to expect? Well, if each of the tracks had to have their own defining role in a kind of Spice Girls-esque arrangement, we'd probably assign them the following; LSD - the clubby one; The Magician - the deep one; Serendipity - the driving one; and Dopamine - the not-four-to-the-floor one.
