Tactus was conceived in December of 2011 as a student-led vocal ensemble of Concordia College (Moorhead, Minnesota) dedicated to classical choral music. The ensemble regularly appears in Concordia College’s chapel services, and has made special appearances at Concordia's Family Weekend Showcase and Candlelight Advent Services. Tactus has also performed for the college’s Board of Regents and major donors to the college at the annual Founder’s Day Banquet, both at the invitation of President William Craft. Since its inception, Tactus has presented multiple concerts on campus and toured northern Minnesota and North Dakota. All programs have featured new music by composers under the age of 22, including premieres by students of Concordia, Harvard University, and the University of Music and Performing Arts of Graz, Austria. The ensemble's nine members represent a range of academic concentrations, from Vocal Performance to Music Education to Graphic Design. Tactus has been a catalyst for creativity in the Concordia community, inspiring and premiering works by Concordia’s composers and appearing as a featured ensemble alongside other student-led groups in Concordia’s first annual Chamber Voices Festival.
