About

Joomanji was formed in 2010 by Jonah Christian, Amir Oosman, and Robert Finucane. The multi-faceted instrumentalists met at the University of California Santa Cruz whilst studying Jazz and Electronic Music. Their first release, MANJ, gained attention from FACT Magazine, Earmilk, BamaLoveSoul, Pigeons &amp; Planes, as well as many other prominent musical blogs. The project also hit #1 on Bandcamp.com's Neo-Soul &amp; Nu-Jazz charts, respectively, &amp; was placed on Reddit’s official best of 2013 “ListentoThis” list. 

Joomanji has had the pleasure of collaborating with artists such as Devin the Dude, Carlitta Durand, Chris Young the Rapper (VIBE) and many more. The group has relocated to Los Angeles and currently features Lindsay Olsen, Austin Antoine and Joseph Salcedo. Productions consist of live recordings mixed intermittently with vinyl chops. The resulting music is a fusion of crisp instrumentals with that vintage sound that us hip hop heads all love.

Kevina Love is a gospel artist who comes from a rich heritage of singers. Even as a little girl, Kevina was often caught in a corner of the church watching her family sing. Kevina most admired her grandmother, Janie Crawford (of the Gospel Travelers), and her mother, Joyce Humbert (backing vocalist to Ms. Patti Labelle).

At age 13, Kevina joined the group PYT (Pretty Young Thing) as their lead singer. At the age of 14, Kevina felt the call of God in her life and vowed to sing for the Lord. Kevina had many chances to go back and sing R&B on the professional level, but she wanted to stay true to her calling to sing for Jesus Christ.

Along life’s journey, Kevina suffered many trials including the murder of her son Keyvon in 2013. While this challenged her faith, Kevina vowed to never let go of God’s hand. During the worst times in her life, Kevina would pick up a pen and paper and write a heartfelt song. When she worships God, Kevina strives to let God take over so that she can leave her heart and soul on the stage.

In a recent interview, Kevina said, “My favorite artist is Ms. Tarraylin Ramsey. I’m so inspired by her. I feel like she has such a beautiful instrument and it’s surely admired by me and so many others. My mother, Mrs. Joyce Humbert, and grandmother, Mrs. Janie Crawford, are also huge inspirations to me. I thank God for all of the talents that He has blessed me with and I intend on using each gift to the fullest. Only the Lord Jesus knows what the future holds for me, but I trust and believe in God for the best. I desire to sing all over the world and be as much help to God’s kingdom as I can.”

= An Eclectic Groove Oriented – Funky Jazz Collective.

“Best known for their sizzling live performances, the fo/mo/deep groove is rooted in the experimental school of the 70s…a time when jazz, soul and funk were one and the same. Seeking to defy the ordinary, this diverse collective of seasoned pros keeps things stirred up with unpredictable energy that moves.

The music harkens back to the days when super groups hypnotized the world with bass driven ensembles and a full-bodied sound that reigned supreme.  fo/mo/deep plays music like it’s meant to be…hot, incalculable and emotionally satisfying.

They released their most eclectic work yet, “The Groovy Goodness” on June 3rd, 2014. Brent Black of critical jazz wrote “A release as deep and rich as the cover art, I’m hooked…” Robert Young of the Vertical Spin says “ Columbus, OH native composer/bassist Ron “FatKat” Holmes returns with his band fo/mo/deep to enhance their distinctive mark on another riveting contemporary jazz offering titled “The Groovy Goodness.” 

Both “A Beautiful Bang” (June 2012) their sophomore CD release AND their first CD, “Eclecticism,” (August 2010) was received with rave reviews. Rob Young of The Urban Flux declared, “Their unique groove uncoils with a twist of eclectic jazz/funk rhythms that’s not heard often enough these days.” 

Formed back 2007 by Bassist/Bandleader, Ron “Fatkat” Holmes, Jr., they are now known for their intelligently energetic and unpredictable shows, created a formidable reputation for this jazz-funk-world infused band. Amazingly, their music masterfully transfers the insatiable energy of the band’s live performances to the recording studio. The songs engrave the canvas of the record with sizzling bursts of improvisation, while also capturing the emotional essence of more delicate instrumental conversations. 

Tastefully varied but cohesively melded, the music lives in the moment.
