Translucent 60 - Undercurrent EP

After reaching their landmark fifth release back in August, Nicole Moudabers MOOD Records continues its stunning run of releases with a joint EP from Canadian techno titans Carlo Lio & The Junkies. Set for release on 23rd September, the Icon EP is firmly aimed at the dance floor with two trademark powerful and driving tracks. Title track Icon kicks off the EP by combining juddering bass, a warped vocal and unnerving industrial sounds, all of which serve to create an air of tension. With further percussion and eerie elements added to the equation, Icon results in an atmospheric and hypnotic techno cut. Next up is Bluprint which captivates the listener from the off using punchy percussion, a brooding synth and a distorted menacing vocal. The track thuds along until boiling point upon which it drops back into its powerful rolling groove. As expected from producers as experienced as Carlo Lio & The Junkies, they have combined with devastating effect on the Icon EP and have managed to serve up two expertly programmed techno tracks packed full of menacing underground sounds.

Pressed Friends is my brand new vinyl label. The idea is to invite a like minded producer/friend on board to make an original track for a one sided vinyl split with myself. The friend is encouraged to stretch into new territory for himself. Here we see Myk Derill push forward into his own brand of that kind of Dub that sits right in between House and Techno. It creates a versatile record that both the house guys and the techno guys - and everyone in between - can jam out to.
