'War Dance' on Stephen Marley's Bongo Nya riddim begins with a sample of the legendary Indo-Jamaican artist Super Cat. Cat, in a conversation with Chin, gives a mystical history of how drum beats played by slaves and native Indians metaphorphed over the years into dancehall and studio riddims. Cat in his speech conflates East Indians and First Nation Indians of the Americas. The Bongo Nya riddim kicks in and provides the perfect bass for Delhi Sultanate's lyrics evoking images of a post apocalyptic Indigenous people's war dance.

War Dance (Bongo Nya)

‘Lighters Up’ is a re-lick of Major Lazer’s tune for Snoop Lion, by London based producer Tramendas. Begum X sings harmonies on the Chorus ‘today not tomorrow’ while Delhi Sultanate’s verses contain multiple references to colonial history, from the 1857 uprising in India to the killing of Colonel Gaddafi in 2011. The Gaddafi reference echoes a classic Dancehall song by Indo-Jamaican artist Super Cat released in 1984. For these lines Delhi Sultanate borrows Cat's pattern of the 1984 classic ‘Under Pressure’ where Cat pays homage to the Libyan leader and proponent of pan Africanism.

'No capitalists shall escape' opens with a sample from Chronixx, prophesizing that in the near future all youths will grow up as revolutionaries. Stephen Marley's rockstone beat kicks in over analogue dub siren sounds and we hear the sampled voice of Johnny Clarke 'No Capitalists Shall Escape in this time'. Reminding listeners of the original source of Stephen Marley's riddim. The Johnny Clarke line is taken from a dubplate he voiced for Bass Foundation Roots. Interestingly, while the original lyrics to his famous song ' None Shall Escape' do not mention the word 'capitalists' anywhere, a lesser known dub version by King Tubby exists that contains different lyrics. Clarks voice comes in only briefly in the militant dub mix of this track, yet his words are straight to the point. Instead of his usual 'none shall escape' you can clearly hear him say ' No Capitalists Shall Escape' - pointing to the existence of alternate vocal takes of this great roots classic.

As the beat kicks in Delhi Sultanate begins his verse, riddled with references to colonial history and metaphors of disease ala 'small pox blankets' and dubplate boxes full of 'black bacteria'. Johnny Clarke's voice returns once more in the break down before Begum X takes over the rest of the song with her heavy blues style delivery written by her after she spent an afternoon reading Frantz Fanon's 'Wretched of the Earth'

Damien Marley rebuilt a song originally created by Ethiopian jazz legend Mulatu Astatke, titled Yègellé Tezeta. ‘Bon Dem Again’ was first created as a dubplate for London based producer Jstar, the lyrics are a mix of sound clash bravado and revolutionary references. In the colonies the truth stood naked, but the citizens of the mother country preferred it with clothes on: the native had to love them, something in the way mothers are loved. The European elite undertook to manufacture a native elite. They picked out promising adolescents; they branded them, as with a red-hot iron, with the principles of western culture; they stuffed their mouths full with high-sounding phrases, grand glutinous words that stuck to the teeth. After a short stay in the mother country they were sent home, white-washed. These walking lies had nothing left to say to their brothers; they only echoed.
