There has been a musical changing of the guard in Vienna the last years. Over due too some would say. Out with old crusty chilled downtempo and elevator music and most definitely in with new exciting and innovative electronica, be it Hip Hop or House or Techno. Much of this has been because of the new breed of club and party people who have taken risks and brought over from overseas very cool underrated and forward thinking producers and DJ’s to play at their parties. This has influenced a new generation of likeminded musical factions and cliques in Vienna who are now producing passionate and quality beats too. One such label is Luv Shack Records and apart from organising some of the cities best parties, they now see fit to express themselves through the medium of vinyl and digital downloads with a roster of local talent.

LeSale opens things up on the EP with “Make me feel so good”. Strong Disco overtones that hark back to the days of the Garage and the Loft. Disco in its purest and most sensible form was always just about a groove, and this has a groove. Minimal piano and vocal loops take nothing away from this gorgeous groove either.
Burnin Tears continue the Nu-Disco theme with “Confessions”. A punchy almost reggae trance with the big claps and a massive gospel shout out that really do light up this energy laden track. Vienna is definitely in the house though with some tight echo and reverb filling the holes.
On the flip, we get more sophisticated and deeper with Jakobin &amp; Domino, two very exciting producers that have had some nice sounds recently on Easy Moods out of Graz. These guys always add plenty of atmosphere to their music and “Night Glow” just oozes the savoir-faire with some soft acid and a little late night Detroit.
Last but not least, Lee Stevens &amp; The Beautiful People drop one of those mid tempo monsters that never feel out of place these days. Dropping the odd cowbell and with short and thick basslines that really do stick, this ends up being a really tight channel and groove.

What do you know about Denmark? Think about it: hotdogs, licorice, beer, and a definite taste for alcohol. Vikings, Hamlet and Lego. Nor must we forget Hans Christian Andersen, Trentemøller and Junior Senior. So did we leave anything out? But of course we did; Jesper Ryom! This young Dane has already made a far-reaching impression with his "Nature Boy EP" on La Fleur’s label Power Plant Records, and recently his talent could also be heard on his remix of Marian’s "Passengers" on their remix album of “Only Out Hearts to Lose”. And now we are proud to present four new tracks on the digital Freude-Am-Tanzen sister label FATzig.

Jesper’s music is proof that house can be clever and still danceable, emotional and still cool. Again and again he mixes jazzy samples with self-played instruments and places these on a groovy four/four base to his own refined and not too heady vision of house. He’s got both legs in the club, and his mind on cloud nine. Guitar riffs drenched in reverb, vocals full of melancholy and harmonies for at least two eternities. Music that doesn't look at pop as a curse word, loves jazz and breathes dub. Direct from Copenhagen over Jena and out throughout the world. The open-air season can come right on by – and the next Denmark vacation too!

It's a body thing, noch immer! Mit beiden Beinen im Club, im Kopf auf Wolke Sieben. Gitarren-Riffs, die den Sonnenaufgang heraufbeschwören, Vocals voller Melancholie und Harmonien für mindestens zwei Ewigkeiten. What do you do when a live project exceeds its own ambitions? Just keep doing the wonderful concerts and eventually head to the studio. Sounds simple and conclusive. In the case of Karocel, that was exactly how they went about it and surprisingly, all six band members made it happen. Though the four Marbert Rocels, Mathias Kaden and Michael-Mitchi-Nagler have known each other from their hometown along the Gera-Jena-Erfurt corridor, and the Karocel live shows have been well received: an album is an entirely different beast. You can add to that the full schedule of events and shows for everyone involved and the various songwriter habits of each. Yet still, the wish to work together on a deeper level stood out front for everyone. The fun they had on the stage brought Karocel the best idea since the carousel. That is, to take the live show and produce it in the studio without a concrete sound in the subconscious. In the fall of 2012 everyone got together in the studio of Marbert Rocel for three intense jam sessions. With a single click it all began – after a while everything was knotted together only to be woven through the mixer where it then lay. Post-production vocals and overdubs weren’t needed. The 10 pearls that emerged from those sessions glistened in its raw form that the direct multifaceted nature of a Karocel event is now available in album format. In various dramatic curves ‘Plaited’ prances over the dance-floor. Right smack in the middle there are tracks like ‘This One’, ‘Tease You’ and ‘Undo’ and the bar shaking ‘Vox, ‘Watts’, ‘Boys’ and ‘Don’t Play’ the kissing on the sofa ‘Without’ and the one on the way home ‘Parallels’. How nice that all the pieces will be in fact available under the stars and in the homey confines of the club to be felt and appreciated. Just like when they were recorded Karocel took everything including mixing the tracks and the artwork in their own hands. Plaited is a complete work of art, no question.
