Ecstatic vibes

Colombia is currently in a national strike, which began to counter attempts of the State to impose abusive taxes on basic necessities in a moment in which many people are already greatly struggling.  The response of the government to the protests has been extremely violent, up till the moment of writing this more than 40 protestors have been killed, hundreds have been injured, and hundreds more are currently missing.  The strike continues.

Microcosmos presents MAWRU who says about this mix: "Wild. West. East. Bass! A few years ago I started to put together two playlists that were very different from each other, but they had one thing in common - a powerful bass and a leisurely beat. West and East, desert prairies and mysterious aromas of spices... Country and blues here are replaced by Arabic motifs and all this under a fat layer of rhythm sections. I decided to combine all this into one mix for a reason. Music of different nations and continents, as well as their cultures, is unique and original, but when all these layers are mixed together, something even more powerful, wild and beautiful is born." From a young age, Mikhail Torshenko aka Mawru was fascinated by the magical properties of sounds and their combinations, after discovering electronic music and computer programs, he studied sequencers and synthesizers for many years. Somewhere in 2015, a personal musical style began to emerge, first SoundCloud releases followed and then collaboration with labels such as Visionary Shamanic and UnityVerse Records, and the Microcosmos label, playing at major Russian electronic music festivals. He's now preparing for the release of new material.

Music Forms introduces ARNIE with this DJ set he played on the Chill Stage during the Ufo Bufo festival, June 20, 2024. Arnie has been immersed in music his entire life. He began with the flute and trumpet in elementary school, spent 16 years in a brass band, two years playing bass in a psy-rock hippie band, and six years in a rap crew. After years of collecting vinyl and exploring psychedelic electronic music, he felt compelled to share his discoveries. Around 2016, he began mixing chillout, later moving to psytrance.  You could hear him at events hosted by his maternal Butcher's Bay Crew, including the Sunrice Festival and SpaceLiquid, as well as at events by the Shivadeco Crew, Fullon Crew, and United Sound Experience. During the summer festival season, he has performed at Psyna Festival, Fénix Festival, Invitation Festival, Sunsara Festival, and UFO BUFO Festival.  Arnie's chillout sets feature energetic organic tracks with folkloric motifs and powerful synthetic bass, sometimes spiced with quirky eight-bit acid melodies. His psytrance selections are typically progressive, diverse, and upbeat, featuring melodic funky bass lines, live instruments, electric guitar, and orchestral samples.

My Musical Journey
----------------------------

After a lifetime immersed in trance & various forms of electronic music, my creative journey began back in 2009 when I started learning to DJ. Not long after I began playing PsyTrance sets for the MerKaBa Tribe parties & festivals across Jersey & the Channel Islands, which felt amazing, seeing so many happy smiley people, dancing, laughing, connecting….I wanted more :)

Pretty soon after, I turned my focus towards my real passion, the wonderful world of psychedelic chill out. This music has done so much good for me, I struggle to put this into words. It has lifted my broken spirit more times than I can remember, in ways that feel deeply healing & nourishing. This was it, this was what I wanted to focus on, creating musical journeys that help heal & nourish us, help recalibrate & come back to ourselves in this crazy, crazy world. If I can even help one person then that is enough.

My ‘Dreamtime Diaries’ series of psybient / psychill mixes is a great example of this work, covering all facets of the psybient world. Around 2017, I lowered the tempo again, creating ambient journeys for use in mediation, yoga, treatments, ceremony or any other situation where genuine immersion into the moment is required.

Around 2012, I branched out into music production. In 2016 I released my debut EP, and have been creating weird or wonderful sounds since then. Also in 2016, I co-founded the Unity Tribe Collective which hosted local trance parties, with the intention of bringing the local community together. Currently I am enjoying playing a monthly chill out radio show for Widgeon Airwaves & am working towards my latest EP, which will hopefully be out later this year.
