'Iridescent' twist and modulate this heritage which moves gradually from ambient / electronics to techno and set the release directly to S++ category into the SEMANTICA catalogue.

It was a true honour playing in the main room on one of my favorite sound systems ever. This set will forever be burnt into my memory as its one of the most enjoyable time I've had behind the decks. Big love and thanks for the Fold team for listening and allowing my the privalege to play in the main room.

Psyk is a key player in Spanish techno, an acclaimed talent with firm emphasis on deep, repetitive loops. He has become synonymous with high-quality, trippy and smart as a tack rhythms. For the last two decades since he started out on Madrid’s clandestine rave beat, he’s developed and advanced a sound to near perfection: raw and technically agile, pelagic echoes from the abyss that have shifted with their changing times. 2011 saw him launch the widely renowned Non Series, a platform releasing the work of similar vein artists like DJ Nobu, Architectural, Neel, Nastia Reigel, Tauceti, Blawan, Luigi Tozzi, Function and Rrose, generating buzz and ardent following. His own releases on labels like Mote Evolver, Semantica and Tresor, intermittent forays on his own label under the alias Maan, as well as his co-project Second Skin (est. 2022) alongside fellow Madrileño Oscar Mulero have been slowly gaining traction in a contemporary music landscape replete with talent. Though the rate of productions is decelerating his touring schedule marches forward at full tilt, adding recent Bassiani dates to those at a list of must-play venues like Fabric, Berghain, Fuse, Tresor and Amsterdam’s shuttered DeSchool. His expert drones and algorithmic beat patterns are in a process of continuing evolution and whatever comes next is sure to be even better than his already outstanding catalogue of work. Bassiani Podcast 258 is an 80-minute expedition into a murky world of Psyk’s design, sweeping and purist techno from this heavyweight selector.

DJ Sodeyama’s been around since the 90s, a Tokyo-based whizz and DJ’s DJ, whose career has offered the type of sound many selectors would envy. It’s incredibly sharp, meandering along its intelligent thread in unexpected and high-minded ways. Since the early noughties he could add producer to his soubriquet too, flexing his minimal muscle with early releases, a steady stream of ensuing ventures further cementing his craft via Korean-based deep techno distributor Artscope, Dynamic Reflection, illegal alien, Daybreak and many more. He’s also explored adjacent genres and ventured into the world of house under his parallel alias The People In Fog. Pretty full plate, but the quality of his sound has suffered nothing for it. His techno is an expert tapestry of interlaced details and lingering moods, injected with raw feeling and undeniable skill. It darts from peak to peak, fusing frequencies riddled with forward-pitched elements and vivid effects, and forges a long-range feeling that abuts the realm of both man and machine. Thick and volatile techno that serves as proof that the genre can keep expanding outwards in fresh and surprising ways. Bassiani Podcast 260 moves the needle further, it's quintessential Sodeyama: vivid climbs and steep descents, warped vocal samples, brave and unbending beats for prime-time raving.

Bulgarian-born, Oslo-based talent Kameliia’s sound leaves little room for misunderstanding. It’s ghostly, powerful and mesmerising stuff that leans on a wealth of inspiration from peers and the likes of Burial’s shadowy UK dubstep. Having studied music for four years, the production of sounds comes naturally, and on the dancefloor she’s given the space to test those personal and unreleased experiments in situ; that feedback is part of the process. Her sets too follow a formula, and a narrative thread that builds from more sparsely populated compositions to maximal, high-intensity techno, a vertical trip of the purest calibre. The threatening and world-shaking sounds she’s come to be known for have coalesced into a number of well-received productions, and made her a solid collaborator for names such as Amotik, Rødhåd and Setaoc Mass; it would be hard to imagine better company for the work she’s doing. Her cavernous and highly spiritual sound is soaked in gritty textures and characterized by a generous dosing of formidable bass, enough to get blood-flowing and her calendar packed with names like Berghain, Fold, Fuse and essaim. For Bassiani Podcast 265 Kameliia delivers a masterclass in atmosphere building, a skittish and salient addition to the Podcast series, you might want to buckle up.

The 10'' is composed by two tunes titled "Homeostasis" and "Biosphere" bold and dark, yet playful and deep techno tracks inspired and dedicated to the beautiful of nature in all his form hence the disc title
"Gaia Aeterna" like the Gaia hypotheses that suggest that all the organisms on Earth co-evolve with their environment. The two-tracker EP will hit the shops on the end of July '18.

Sure Thing’s second release sees Italian producer PRG/M join the label’s roster, following an acclaimed EP for Midgar Records and his ongoing work as a member of r²π. Departing from the soft edges of MIST001, the six-track EP contains multitudes, with looping arrangements that showcase PRG/M’s technical depth and breadth of vision. From the hypnotic, tightly percussive “Giardini e Palagi” to the intense, psychedelic “Flutto Rovente,” the EP captures a range of moods and textures and offers an exemplary example of precise, immersive techno.

The title, Lenta Ginestra, takes its name from a flowering species that grows slowly upon the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, the active volcano known for Pompeii’s destruction. The title is poetic and apt; throughout the EP there’s a sense of restrained patience amid chaos. Like the flower, the title track is delicate but tough, building tension and skillfully resisting catharsis. A remix from Stilla Ton’s Acronym is a dance-forward deconstruction that incites movement while nicely complementing PRG/M’s more charged productions. Despite the lush density of these tracks, groove is never sacrificed. It’s a commanding work, made for both dance floors and deep listening.
