After dropping several tracks and performing at select festivals throughout the years, Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen dedicated the year 2014 to explore the area in-between Ólafur’s more acoustic, piano-based solo work and Janus’s synth-heavy electro pop, with their collaborative electronic project Kiasmos.

By focusing solely on their self-titled debut album, Ólafur and Janus have been able to combine and further develop their unique sound aesthetics to complete an album driven by their mutual love for electronic music. Made in Ólafur’s newly build studio in Reykjavík, Iceland, a majority of the album was recorded using acoustic instruments next to a variety of synthesisers, drum machines and tape delays. It features a live drummer, string quartet and Ólafur performing on the grand piano, producing an ambient, textured sound, which makes it a perfect home listen and equally danceable record. If you listen closely, you can spot them record the thumb piano, finger snapping and even the sound of the metal grinder of a lighter slowly to replace the usual electronic hi-hat sounds, giving the album a far more intimate and unique atmosphere.

“We decided to start almost completely over with this record, so most of the material is written this year with the idea of making a record that can stand as one piece rather than a collection of songs. I am very excited to get a proper record out exploring a different territory than I am used to. I touch a lot on electronic genres in my own music but never have the opportunity to go full out electronic like we do here.” – Ólafur Arnalds

So when we early this year finally found the time to sit down and make a full length album there was so much we wanted to try out. The result surprised us a bit, it's deeper and more emotional than we imagined it to be, but that's the beauty of being able to make an album.” – Janus Rasmussen

Kiasmos – s/t will be released on Double-Vinyl, CD and Download via Erased Tapes on October 27th, 2014.

Dofamine heads up our next Bonzai Progressive release with the superb artist album, Introvert. We last saw him over at Green Martian back at the start of 2015 with Zero, which gained a lot of support from across the board. Introvert takes us on a fantastic journey deep into the realms of house, from progressive to deep, filled with melodic flavours and harsh tones. A truly wonderful ride that will bring emotion and inspiration which you will embed deep into your soul.

Dofamine's Introvert is a superb collection of tracks that will give its listener a wonderful insight into the inner workings of progressive grooves sprinkled with infectious musical sequences. From the deep progressive house grooves of Hydra and Traveller, to the more subdued, smooth vibes on Wind, Mirror, Moon and March 29 there is something for everyone. Monotone takes on a more Techno persona with its harsh bass and tribal fuelled drums while we get a respite from the madness with tracks like Sun, Native and No Way Out as they takes us high into the sky with their blissful ways leaving a sense of fulfilment in their wake.
 
Rounding off the album we get a glimpse at the title track, Introvert which intros with a crisp hat and distant drums before a nice punchy kick takes over. The bass powers into the sound and delivers an instant injection of smooth progressive vibes. The bass transforms into a gritty throbbing monster and sits perfectly below the maelstrom of sounds above. Bright sweeping, melodic pads fill out the groove beautifully and give off an almost euphoric feeling that captivates the mind, body and soul. A wonderful display that will definitely find its way into many sets this Summer.

Harder rhythmic lines are brought to easy fruition as German mastery returns via the superlative sounds of Unique Repeat and their "Movements". Warm bass undertones permeate the consciousness with their flowing, rasping presence, ever shifting. Melody like smoke drifting on the mild zephyr rises upwards in interlocked beauty. Hypnotic patterns emerge that are translucent through countless shades of grey.

Rhythms rise out of solid foundation forming structured elements at regular intervals for Australian craftsmanship. Subtle percussion links sections in coherent homogeneity with impressive Verve. Shadows form through bright sunlight shading infinite patterns, twisting and turning in inexorable revolutions around the planet. Frequencies merge in timeless delays and unexpected directions as new melody plays its joyful part.

Belarusian precision hits hard with shuffling rhythms. Echoes of "Movements" play out through Michael A in exacting fashion via a backdrop of simple beauty. Delicately placed glassy sounds invoke prismatic colour that glistens in mesmerising glory; stained glass beauty with aural counterpart in brilliant evidence for all to witness.
