Boss music for the Mad King, and my submission for the Impressions Composing Jam hosted on itchio. The theme was "The Mountain King."

"Mountain of Madness" would be a highly stylized, colorful action game. The soundtrack would be a mix of rock and electro. My entrie is the music of the confrontation with the "Mad King", the final boss at the top of the mountain. 

It's an electro-rock track that alternates between soft and hard phases. I wanted the guitar and synth to convey a sense of action, and the violin to bring back a noble feel to the music. The general tone is one of combat, madness, and the idea that it's almost the end (of the game).

The concept was to wrap a catchy little pop song in layers of auditory discomfort. The track is interspersed with slow and abrupt tempo changes, dissonant tones, and overall weirdness, but trying not to go so far as to be completely impossible to listen to.
