Amadeus sees it’s catalog graced yet again by New Zealand outfit Chaos In The CBD. The kiwi brothers, birthed Ben & Louis Helliker-Hales, are no new faces to the label, or the wide variety of genre-bending acronyms they encompass. Having recently relocated from tropical Auckland to damp London earlier this year, the two take their productions along with them in their latest efforts, 816 To Nunhead.

Title track and aside, “816 To Nunhead,” is tinged with what’s left of summer. A nostalgic tune built for the sun and soaked in funk. It’s a track reminiscent of early french disco, almost as if built for the two robots themselves. Guitar plucks and hi hats flow seamlessly throughout the tune, aided by a glorifying vocal, “I would like to think of my music as just an extension, an extension of me of today or whatever.” 

What emotion of freedom and escape evoked on the Aside can be contrasted on the flip, “78 To Stanley Bay,” a tune built behind the ever looming theme of loneliness. Accompanied by a live trumpet courtesy of Isaac Aesili, ’78 To Stanley Bay’ tells us a story, or rather a journey, built behind dirty hats and delayed keys. This is a track fashioned for everywhere but the club, and we absolutely love that.

The New Zealand Born, Peckham based brothers have released with the likes of ClekClekBoom and Hot Haus and now step up for RS008 with four melancholic cuts that pays homage to deep house and laid-back jazz in their truest forms. Hypnotic and hazy, Midnight In Peckham goes on a late night tip, with a subtle poetry to the track that gives it an unequivocally timeless vibe. Due for release 24th August, delve deep into this exclusive i-D premiere.

Felipe Gordon from Bogota is one of THE names right now in the jazz infected house & broken beat scene that is growing so much these days. This is his 2nd EP on Toy Tonics and its a step forward for him musically: he started to include more vocals and worked with colombian vocalist Paula Pedraza. Gordon’s music is special: with his background as a colombian (with that great heritage of musicianship that the country has) and as a indie rock musician (he used to play in bands for years) - he has a very own vibe. His tracks have much more groove than lot of the sample based stuff you get to hear currently.. and his production style is more variable and musically interesting than lots of other stuff outside. Check these 4 new tracks. Especially the 2nd tool, wich adds some freshness to the current disco vibe: Binging in a punkfunk bassline that could have been made in 2005 from Disco-Not-Disco artists like Chicken Lips, Headman or Playgroup. This is Post - 90ies - Revival music :)
Be ready for Felipe Gordons hottest year in 2020. With releases on Heist and Local Talk also to come after Toy Tonics.
