Shaun Theo Acharie best known among fans and friends as “Ecko” began as just a music collector and always wanting to have all the new music, which then led him to now wanting to play this music for his friends.

Ecko was born in Elim Hospital a town near Louis Trichardt in Limpopo. Inspired by his mother who was at this time a radio presenter/producer on Radio. After losing his Dad at the age of 13, Ecko found Djing being another way to deal with the loss of his father. He took his music and started playing during school functions and Beauty Contests. This is where Ecko used to play a lot of mainstream Music and bootlegs.
In 2006 Ecko was given an opportunity to be part of “The Miller Crew” through SAB which opened up a lot of opportunities in terms of Playing his music on a bigger platform and meeting other Dj’s.
It was through Patrick Nembudani (Soulbaptist) who gave me my first gig and asked me if I am ready for this task, as it requires someone as passionate as i was.

In 2013 Ecko moved from Limpopo to the Big City of Johannesburg. This is where he had told himself that it is time to get better at his craft and started researching on music that he hears when visiting other venues. Deep house, Alternative Music and Lounge certainly sits well with Ecko. Ecko is the Founder and Spinner of a 3 men group called Matured Audience which was established in 2017.

Ecko has shared a stage with Giants like: Bubbles, Avant Garde Troupe , Glen Lewis, Black Coffee, Culoe de Song, Jazzman, Sean Mccabe, Vinny da Vinci, Euphonik and Durban’s finest just to name a few.
