Max Lyandvert is a composer, sound artist and director whose work with major theatre companies has garnered him many awards. He has won two Helpmann Awards, in 2008 for War of the Roses and 2005 for The Ham Funeral/Journal of a Plague Year. He has received numerous Helpman, Sydney theatre and Greenroom nominations.  Max has worked extensively with the STC and also with Company B/Belvoir, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Malthouse Theatre, ICA, QTC, Legs on the Wall, Hothouse Theatre and Griffin Theatre Company. Some notable productions include LOST ECHO, WAR OF THE ROSES, JULIUS CAESAR, FESTEN, SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT and ORESTEIA. He has worked extensively with Rodney Fisher, Benedict Andrews, Kate Champion and international directors Romeo Castellucci, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Annabel Arden. In 2008, Max composed choir arrangements for the feature film Hey Hey It’s Esther Blueburger starring Toni Collette. In 2011 Max was Artist in Residence at NIDA. In 2012 Max was Composer and Sound Designer for the Australian and European tour of STC’s Gross Und Klein which starred Cate Blanchett. Recently, Max composed the score for the six part mini-series DEVILS PLAYGROUND and the feature film documentaries GAYBY BABY and AFTER THE WAVE. In 2014 Max received the Australia Council for the Arts Theatre Fellowship.

Max’s work as director includes STC's commission MANNA (2009), the workshop production of NETHER, the Australian premiers of Richard Forman’s works NOW THAT COMMUNISM IS DEAD MY LIFE FEELS EMPTY (B Sharp Belvoir, Malthouse and Melbourne Festival of the Arts in 2007), I'VE GOT THE SHAKES (Darlinghurst Theatre in 2004) and MY HEAD WAS A SLEDGEHAMMER (B Sharp in 2001) and his own work CLOSE YOUR LITTLE EYES, for Fourplay string quartet, Sydney Children's Choir and Melissa Madden Gray, for Sydney Festival at the Opera House.

Soundwalk Collective is the contemporary sonic arts platform of founder and artist Stephan Crasneanscki and producer Simone Merli. Working with a rotating constellation of artists and musicians, they develop site- and context-specific sound projects through which to examine conceptual, literary or artistic themes.  
 
Evolving along multi-disciplinary lines, Soundwalk Collective has cultivated long-term creative collaborations with musician Patti Smith, late director Jean-Luc Goddard, photographer Nan Goldin, choreographer Sasha Waltz, and actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg, among others. In doing so, their practice engages in the narrative potential of sound across mediums such as art installations, dance, music and film. 

A unique artistic approach to sound ties together the different forms in which Soundwalk Collective work. Whether in original composition or the use of archival recordings, they treat sound as material that is both tactile and poetic. This allows them to create layered narratives that address ideas of memory, time, love and loss.
 
Their latest original score for ‘All The Beauty and the Bloodshed’ (dir. Laura Poitras) won the Golden Lion at the 2022 Venice Film Festival. In October 2022, they opened ‘Evidence’, a new exhibition with Patti Smith at Centre Pompidou in Paris that weaves an audio-visual journey from the work of French poets Arthur Rimbaud, Antonin Artaud and René Daumal.

Soundwalk Collective have performed and exhibited at a diverse range of arts and music institutions, such as Berghain, Centre Pompidou, CTM Festival, documenta, KW Institute of Contemporary Art, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Manifesta, Mobile Art Pavillion by Zaha Hadid and New Museum.

Mark A. Ullrich is a composer and multi-instrumentalist with extreme versatility. His music has aired on every major network including HBO, MTV, FOX and the Discovery Channel. Mark's work has been used by such brands as BMW, American Express, and Forever 21. Contact for custom works.
