Mr. Smith`s monologue / Монолог Вічного

Originally recorded for the Dead Albatross awards show in October 2014, for Euplexia's award nomination.  
This track was made using recordings of my flute and various objects in the cellars underneath Dean Clough Mills in Halifax.

The piece uses recordings of objects from within the installation space, flute, bass flute and glockenspiel.

Using the rare sound of a bass flute, this piece uses only one note (C one octave below middle C).  The various pitches are overtones, the naturally occuring harmonics present in all sounds.  These are created by blowing the flute in different ways.  

Minute of Listening is a creative learning project through which Sound and Music hopes to enable every child in the country to gain access to a huge diversity of music and sound and, for sixty seconds each day, to focus on the richness and enjoyment of the act of listening. Children from the ages of 3 to 11 will be participating with their class teachers, testing a variety of approaches to engaging with Minute of Listening and exploring the act of listening. Running from 4th January to 30th March 2012.
