Meda Fury presents the debut release of Malmö’s Armand Jakobsson AKA Rimbaudian. Taking his name from the modernist poet, Jakobson’s music is a beguiling mixture of thumping house, tripped out rhythmic excursions and blissed out, lattice-like synth melodies.

Jacking basement sleaze is the order of the day with opener ‘Let Me Beat U’, coming on like a vintage Trelik cut, 'Werka 8’ lightens up proceedings with a stomping beat and carefree spiralling synths that shimmer with light, ‘Holy Flesh’ boasts a ghetto drum track and dizzying flute-synth refrain sure to work dancers into a frenzy, things cool down with the mysterious, glacial pads and tuff bass pulse of ‘Hold Up Hold On’.

From a family of musicians (his father is opera singer, mother a music teacher, sister is a cellist and opera singer), he grew up surrounded with music, but stubbornly rejected formal study, teaching himself composition and production whilst at university in Edinburgh.

"I was there for 4 years, and it probably had a bigger impact on me than Malmö - It’s such a moody city, and having been a too sensitive young guy there for such a long time definitely left its traces. I can’t say how, exactly, it affected me, but i like to think of my musical career in terms of chapters, and that was the first and probably most significant one, up until now."

New french label "in Any Case" starts up with a various artists showcasing 5 producers from all around the world: Detroit producer Peter Croce opens the ep with a soulful disco edit followed by a groovy filtered house cut by german Martin Hayes. On the flip side, Pascal Viscardi from Geneva goes deep with an heavy kick on this highlighted track "Fuorigrotta", followed by "I Did This At Work" a tasty house track with an efficient bassline and subtle samples produced by french guy Malouane, G2S & Ibn Sabaa also from France close the release with an abstract hip hop joint! Coming out in mid-September!

A mysterious new figure from Tbilisi, Georgia by the name of @WillGatess is the latest to release an EP on @Blaq-Numbers vinyl-only sub-label Whyte Numbers. The German imprint is still relatively young but has seen success with EPs from the likes of Interstate, Matthias Fiedler & Carlo and a small host of artists on their various artist releases. Moody chords and jackin' beats are a staple of this label's no frills approach, with music curated straight for the dance floor. If you're already familiar with them then you'll know by now that they have a small tradition of giving away their test pressings. If not, follow them on Facebook and try your luck as the tradition is sure to continue for future releases.

Our premiere from the five track Will Gates "TBS" EP, dedicated to and deriving its name from his hometown is the A1 and the track is 'Untitled 2'. Slightly dissonant chords and a pounding kick get us underway while a shuffling hat sets the pace. A rumbling bass line clearly made for a club system tucks in beneath the groove while sampled high pitched vocals add a quirky element to this otherwise no nonsense cut. The untitled track is functional and serves a distinct purpose which is to get those feet moving, perhaps not at peak time but in preparation for a long night ahead. You'll find the rest of the EP to have a coherent, dance floor ready sound, with plenty of jazzy and hip-hop influenced samples to go about and included is a Lootbeg remix of the acid-tinged title track.
