"Kodama (木霊, 木魂 or 木魅) are spirits in Japanese folklore that inhabit trees, similar to the dryads of Greek mythology. The term is also used to denote a tree in which a kodama supposedly resides. The phenomenon known as yamabiko, when sounds make a delayed echoing effect in mountains and valleys, is sometimes attributed to this kind of spirit, and may also be referred to as "kodama".

Kodama are considered to nimbly bustle about mountains at will. Their outer appearance is very much like an ordinary tree, but if one attempts to cut it down, one would become cursed, it is thus considered to have some kind of mysterious supernatural power. The knowledge of those trees that have kodama living in them is passed down by the elderly of that area over successive generations and they are protected, and it is also said that trees that have a kodama living in them are of certain species. There is also a theory that when old trees are cut, blood could come forth from them."

Miniyamba evokes a sparkling sea, rolling waves and the warm sun beating down on your skin.

Lovers of Music! Here we go again, this time with a 2,5 hour live set I played at AfrikaBurn earlier this month. Being at AfrikaBurn is always such a highlight of the year for me. Being there with people I love and then playing for a crowd who really likes what I am doing! (Lucky me ;-)) This year I played for the Leopard Mafia on Wednesday and on Thursday for the Space Cowboys. The week before I played at another sold out Suikerbossie in Cape Town (thanks to Caroline/Karen to make that happen again). So I already had a nice warm-up for the South African crowd. I never have expectations before I play somewhere because I always want to go all-in with a blank mind. And so I did on this trip as well. But knowing what the crowd and atmosphere was the years before I always feel very excited to bring some nice pieces of music with me. Please listen yourself what happened during this sunset set. After ‘Follow The Sun’ we went into nighttime mode and although the temperature dropped my heart was heated by the love and happy faces I saw in front of me. Hasta La Vista and till next time! Damit die Fusion 2019 gerade in diesem Moment stattfinden kann,  musste der Kulturkosmos und auch wir alle ganz schön kämpfen. Doch für „Die Freiheit der Kunst“ lohnt es sich einmal mehr aufzustehen und seine Stimme zu erheben … denn wir wollen uns unsere Kunst und Utopien nicht wegnehmen lassen.

Den Termin für diesen Podcast haben wir schon länger ausgemacht und er ist ganz zufällig auf den Fusion Termin gefallen. Als Frida und Judith mir dann den Mix geschickt haben, meinten sie „Da er zur Fusion raus kommt, haben wir uns ne kleine Sache überlegt und so eine Art "Fusion Special" gemacht (mit kleinen Pressekonferenz schnipseln am Anfang und Ende).“ Und weil die Fusion 2019 schon jetzt etwas ganz spezielles ist … wurde es auch hier ein Special. DANKE FUSION … Danke Kulturkosmos … Danke Fridi und Judi <3

Den Künstler für die 119 hab ich schon seit langem ins Auge gefasst für meine Reihe. Doch bisher hatte es sich immer nicht so richtig ergeben. Nun sind wir uns schon öfters über den Weg gelaufen und er hat auch bei unserer letzten Afterhour Sounds VA im Beate Uwe ein wunderbares Set für uns gespielt. Irgendwann dort haben wir es dann auch geschafft mal einen Termin zu fixieren.

Die Rede ist von Dahu … von dessen Sound ich ein sehr großer Fan bin. Sowohl seine grandiosen und eigenwillige Produktion als auch sein Wirken als DJ haben immer diese Tendenz zum Perfektionismus … die auch immer wieder meine Antriebsfeder ist. Haha auch wenn einem diese hin und wieder ganz schön im Weg stehen kann.

Dieses Set bedeutet mir tatsächlich sehr sehr viel … da es meine Musikgeschmack wie ganz wenige wiederspiegeln. Diese fantastische Mischung aus Melodien, Druck, Düsterheit und Verspieltheit bringt es einfach genau auf den Punkt. Und trotz der Melancholie ist es doch auch wieder positiv.  

Philipp es ist mir eine ganz große Freude und Ehre dich in meiner Reihe mit diesem für mich ganz besonderem Set zu wissen. Und nun liebe Hörer bin ich mal gespannt wie es euch gefällt … Musik ist ja auch immer eine Geschmack Sache.
