Anjunadeep warmly welcomes David Roif, aka Rezident, back to the label with his new single ‘Only For A Moment’, featuring Norwegian vocalist Ekko. ‘Only For A Moment’ is the first of a three-track EP to be released by the Berlin-based producer this March. The track combines Ekko’s playful vocals with lilting arpeggios and lively drums to create an anthemic, feel-good dance track.

Since debuting on Anjunadeep in 2020 as part of the label’s ‘Explorations 13’ compilation EP with his track ‘Pure’, Rezident has gone from strength to strength in his relatively young but quickly evolving career, including co-producing on a track on Maceo Plex’s recent album with Diplo, and remixing the likes of Aluna, Ben Böhmer, and Jan Blomqvist. Rezident’s remix of Ben Böhmer’s ‘Erase’ was played over 900 times on SiriusXM Chill in 2023, as well as being supported by BBC Radio 1.

David also supported Ben Böhmer on his ‘Begin Again’ world tour, in 2022-3 as well as being a regular feature at Anjunadeep shows at iconic venues including Fabric and The Brooklyn Mirage, and more recently playing at Piknic Électronik Montreal, as well as at The Brooklyn Hangar with Nora En Pure and Enamour.

‘Only For A Moment’ is out February 16 via Anjunadeep.

What a song.

In attempts to create something revolutionary, I thought to create something that portrayed a combination of 10-12+ musical genres and different musical scales/keys.

Some could theorize that it sounds like a DJ mix, which sounds about right when I was creating the transitions between each section.

My hopes were that the structure was "intro-verse-build-drop-postdrop-build-drop-postdrop-build-drop-outro" So I tried to create it as one would when creating a normal song.

Some of my other hopes were that I wanted to show people that you can venture beyond the classical musical composition and create something of pure creativity and expression, rather than being limited to what another person suggests how music should be made.

All vocals were sampled from Splice.

I hope that this inspires you in some way to not just create art, but to create something revolutionary.

Some things I learned while making music over the years:
"What you do throughout your day pre tells what the melodies of life you create"
"If you work hard enough there will be rewards"
"Think of the highest goal you can achieve and do what you can to build past that"
"What game do you play when making music? To create a song? To outperform others high scores? Think of music more than just music"
"Being sober is actually overpowered"
"If you travel, make sure to create some type of art while traveling to document your life"
"Showing your appreciation to nature and life is crucial"
"Music itself is very spiritual, praying or being spiritual can help significantly"
"What you are looking at while making melodies has an extreme impact, depending on the melody or song, having some trippy or cool visuals on can help a lot"
"Creating something that is an accumulation of everything you learned has a larger potential for success"
"There is a huge difference in creating a melody in the day vs night"
"Every person has a strongest ability/skill and capitalizing on that and hyper developing that will give you immense success"
"Using numbers strategically in music can help you reach higher heights"
"What you say during the day and what you hear impacts your melodies and the music you create"
"Longer hair can increase flow within your art and create more volume"
"Eating healthy and making sure you have balanced meals is crucial for creating healthy and well balanced songs and art"
"Working out 6 days a week, abs at the start and end with hitting every muscle group twice helps a lot" (every day 2 different muscle groups) (I do Monday 'Chest+Triceps' Tuesday 'Back+Biceps' Wednesday 'Shoulders+Legs' Thursday 'Chest+Triceps' Friday 'Back+Biceps' Saturday 'Shoulders+Legs' Sunday 'Rest' (that rest is vital)
"Music is subjective. Understanding what that truly means can enhance conceptualization of what it means to be an artist"
"Music can also be objective, with theories of how to make the best music that can be achieved"
"Creating your own style of music will give you more success than trying to create another persons style of music or trying to replicate their idea, because usually them as a person is their own puzzle piece and you have a better shot at creating your own puzzle piece that fits in your way"
