Despite that, I am outraged. Fascinated but discouraged and hopeless to behold what surrounds me. I am fortunate not to have the burden of hunger, but I want to shout in the ears of those who abuse their luck.

I decided to channel my hatred in the songs I write, inspired by what frightens my soul. My only goal is to provide a better world to my offspring; a better preparation for those who will have to live with my choices and those that I can't make.

GMF - Grand Mother's Funck (1992-2020)

Beinahe wäre die helvetische Soul- und Funkgarde ausgestorben! Handwerk verlor an Bedeutung, mit buntem Stilmix auf Plattentellern versuchte man zu retten was zu retten war... Dass die GMF-Dinosaurier der Swiss Funkyness zum Überleben verhülfen, lag auf der Hand – Ehrensache! Nach erfolgreichem Comeback 2017 präsentieren Grand Mother's Funck nun ein fulminantes Folgewerk.

The Big Pie heisst das Album, das am 3. April 2020 bei iGroove erscheint. Wahrlich ein grosser Kuchen: Eine CD mit zehn Songs, zwei Remixes, eine Sound-Collage, Youtube-Videos und mehrere Vorab-Singles auf Spotify, die pünktlich zu jedem Konzert der Release-Tour veröffentlicht werden.

Die erste CD "Grand Mother's Funck" schlug 1994 ein wie eine Bombe, und elf weitere sollten über die Jahre folgen. 1996 stürmten GMF mit ihrem zweiten Album "Please Baby Please Baby Baby Baby Please" bereits die US-College Charts, Fanclubs in Japan und auf den Bahamas waren die Folge. Die Single "Call Me" war ein Hit auf DRS3 und katapultierte die Band auf alle grossen Festivalbühnen und in jeden Partykeller der Schweiz und des umliegenden Auslandes. Für das Album "The Proud Egyptian" verpflichteten sie Kult-Rapper Akil the MC, den kreativen Kopf von Jurassic 5 aus Los Angeles, und bestritten mit ihm eine dreijährige Konzerttour. Und von ihrem letzten Album "Take The Money" landeten ausgewählte Tracks auf Samplern des holländischen DJ-Labels "Breakbeat Paradise".

In 28 Jahren haben sie über 160 Eigenkompositionen veröffentlicht. Grand Mother's Funck verfeinerten ihre Kunst, lernten ihr Handwerk gründlich und blieben sich treu. Zusammen stöberten sie im reichen Fundus der afro-amerikanischen Musikgenres und sogen alles auf was ihrem Ziel diente: eine Musik zu schaffen, bei der es kein Entrinnen gibt. Mit stilistisch bestechender Klarheit verbreiten GMF gute Laune und ziehen tanzfreudige Konzertbesucher in ihren Bann.

Omertah are Ukrainian band formed in 2011 in Sevastopol. 
The band play in a specific instrumental style, mixing post-rock features and ambient backgrounds with groovy ‘djent’ riffs in it’s tracks. During one year their demo-tracks gathered fan’s attention in many musical communities.
