SGJAZZ is a jazz/soul band from Louisville, Kentucky led by internationally acclaimed producer Dr. Dundiff. Dundiff (Done Different) is a heavyweight on the instrumental beats/Lo-Fi scene with releases on labels like Jakarta, Hip Dozer, PLYGRND and Cold Busted. He is also one half of alt R&B duo Otis Junior & Dr. Dundiff.

“Inside Out” is the second single from the upcoming album “SGJAZZ Vol. 2”, to be released Nov 26th digitally and on LP. The artwork was created by Parisian illustrator MC Blue Matter.

An amazing record recently landed in my post office box, an absolute classic of an album I honestly never thought I’d see in person let alone get a copy of: Winston Mankunku Ngozi’s quartet masterpiece “Yakhal Inkomo” - I insist everyone at least take a listen to this on Spotify or elsewhere. On this episode I've included the title track to start off the set. ‘Uteki’ is the first teaser from beat virtuoso FloFilz’s upcoming project, accompanied by UK jazz producer and composer Alfa Mist. Marking his first release since his EP ‘Two For Mistake’ in 2020, Alfa Mist provides a virtuous mix of piano and rhodes coupled with FloFilz’s mellow violin forming a sultry blend of Contemporary Jazz and Hip-Hop.

The artwork has been created by Indonesian illustrator Fatchurofi who caught FloFilz's attention through his work for everybody’s favourite band Khruangbin.

Exposed to music from a young age, FloFilz grew up in Belgium before moving to Aachen, Germany where he studied the violin and classical music, while also playing in orchestras. In addition to his parents, who were both musicians, he cites Hip-Hop icons A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla and Madlib as key influences. Recognised as one of Germany’s most in-demand producers, the self-taught bedroom beatmaker has built his reputation led by his seductive blend of Lo-Fi, Soul and Jazz-influenced groves. Taking great inspiration from London's Jazz scene he has previously collaborated with the likes of MF DOOM, Alfa Mist, Barney Artist, Ivan Ave, Blu, JuJu Rogers, Biig Piig, K.A.A.N., J.Lamotta and K, Le Maestro.

German Jazz/Beat duo Pachakuti & young.vishnu are taking their joint project to new heights. Organically developing instrumental Hip-Hop into full-fledged orchestral Jazz and Groove, they create an excitingly eclectic blend of world music traditions. ‘Dédalo de Concreto’ is the first single off their upcoming project.

Pachakuti is a musician and producer with family roots in Colombia. He plays keys, tenor saxophone and clarinet. While living and working in Berlin, he draws inspiration from the natural world, investigative travels, and ancestral traditions of Latin America and beyond. His expressive and rhythmical playing and his instantaneous compositions are directed at the human core, arousing subtle experiences. While not being conformed to one style, it always invokes a sense of liveliness and depth to be delved in.

young.vishnu is a producer and DJ. He has studied philosophy and music in Hildesheim, Germany, which heavily influenced his views on meaning and mythology in music. In his DJ sets he selects and plays classic and contemporary Funk, Soul and Afrobeat. His practice as a DJ informs his work behind the boards directly, adding also more organic grooves and broader spectrum of musical styles to his in Hip-Hop based production.

If you had to put one single tag on their music, the best choice would be Jazz. That being said, Pachakuti and young.vishnu’s sound worlds might be better described in their own words: „We just make music and try to incorporate what we love about it“. They are musical freethinkers with shared interests in eastern philosophy and botany who interweave Hip-Hop, Latin and Funk with musical storytelling and world mythology.

Mixed and mastered by Roe Beardie at The Brewery Studios, Berlin. The album artwork emerged through a collaboration between Mexican painter Sergio Chávez Hollar and Carsten Pölking of Nima Compositions Archive.

Pachakuti & young.vishnu signed with Melting Pot Music in 2020 and released their debut album ‘Semilla’ in the same year. Followed by a string of singles and EPs.

Here we go again, my third installment in my soul mix series. This one is starting out with a few tracks on the folky soul tip, then it's pretty much downtempo mid 70's modern tracks, plus some wierd jazzy soul tracks. All tracks in the mixes are 7" records, except from two tracks which is a album only tracks. Not too much dance music going on here. This is a mix made striclty for heartbreaks, drinks or casual chillout. All original first pressings from my collection - no bootlegs, reissues, compilations or bullshit.
