Announced in late 2016 with the single ‘All Because Of You’, described as “a future classic” (CJ Mackintosh) and “absolutely necessary” (Soul Clap), BBE are proud to present Kiko Navarro’s brand new solo album ‘Everything Happens For A Reason’. A highly respected artist for many years now, Kiko Navarro is a name synonymous with the Balearic House sound, thanks to his residencies at Space & Pacha as well as his countless productions and remixes.
‘Everything Happens For A Reason’ displays a dizzying array of musical flavours, with guest appearances from DJ Spen, Boris Dlugosch and multi-instrumentalist Gabriele Poso, whose compilation ‘The Language Of Tambores’ is coming soon on BBE. Within a framework of warm, soulful House music, Kiko explores afro-latin rhythms, broken beats, nu-jazz and straight up Chicago-inspired acid.
A deep re-imagining of Maze & Frankie Beverly’s 80s classic ‘Twilight’, irrepressible floor-filler ‘I Can Show You The Way’ and a new orchestral version of 2007 classic ‘Soñando Contigo’ are among the immediate highlights, but this album is so much more than the sum of its parts. ‘Everything Happens For A Reason’ sees Kiko Navarro concentrating his wealth of experience curating and creating music into a highly potent and deeply personal soundtrack to his life and career so far.

Purveyor of fine disco grooves and future funk, Ron Basejam, returns to Futureboogie with the bustling 5 track EP, “After The Rain”.  

Having already contributed some key releases and remixes to the label, from his 2016 collaboration with Neil Diablo, his first class remix of The White Lamp’s “It’s You” to his stellar productions as part of Crazy P, Basejam gets right down to business across all five cuts.

Rhodes keys glide over soulful vocals and a frenetic percussive workout on “After The Rain” as elegant soaring strings lift the atmosphere perfectly.  A raw and stripped back bass and drum funkfest shapes “The French Exit”, whilst on “Raise”, a heavy synth riff breaks out over tom-laden beats and uplifting vox.

The quality never drops as further excursions into soulful street vibes are dished out across “Jacob’s Chair” and the positively energetic euphoria of “After The Sun”.  An EP packed with many different shades of Ron Basejam’s continually on point productions, this is a must for lovers of the boogie!

Fresh from excursions on Gruuv and New Violence, Glaswegian Dalfie returns to Catz ‘N Dogz Pets with three more marching orders. Please stand to attention:
‘Outlaw’ sets the tone with a slinky synth bass groove, a shadow-creeping ambience and a neat sense of momentum that takes you unaware with subtle twists and diversions en route. An ideal opener or transition piece, ‘Outlaw’ whips up an atmosphere like no other.  ‘For It’ adds acidic petrol to the deep, dark fire. Slow-burning with a hip-slinking percussion-tinted groove, it gradually gets darker and darker as we creep further into Dalfie’s 303s. By the time we’re submersed in the breakdown our veins are nothing by circuits and frequencies run through them like blood.
For our final leg of the journey Dalfie leaves us in a brighter mindset with ‘Right Up’. Taking cues from both mid 90s Chicago and late 90s Paris, there’s an unquenchable funk woven deep into the filtered samples, pushing beats, carnivalian percussion and the lolloping bassline. Twisted in places, fluctuating in others, seriously vibrant throughout, this is a precision intersection of house, techno and disco all rolled into one seriously vibed-out party piece. Don’t be a stranger!

Premiere: Enduro Disco - Luv Me More [Exploited]

Right place, right time. It's an old cliché, but it's one that's been the definition of Dennis Ferrer's musical career. Just as the dance music world was heading into the world of afro-centric house, Ferrer was there. And then, when it began to embrace the mix of tech and soul, Ferrer was there again, leading the way with his impeccable productions. As Ferrer goes, it seems, so does electronic music. And, as someone who's never content to do the same thing twice, it's clear that he'll be staying on top for years to come.

Ferrer burst back into the consciousness of most dance music heads with the release of "Sandcastles," (Ibadan) his collaboration with Jerome Sydenham in 2003. But, to his credit, Ferrer didn't simply repeat the formula afterwards. He has continued to push a variety of genres all at once. It's clear that Ferrer isn't content to rest on his laurels: he's too busy dreaming up new ways to shock and delight audiences.

In the mid-90’s, Ferrer was crafting techno records as Morph and then had success in the Afro and gospel house scenes with releases via his Sfere label, an imprint he began alongside Kerri Chandler. But it's this past work that gives his new productions such resonance: unlike many of this house peers, Ferrer's techno experience has given him an edge that you can hear in his recent work.

"Son of Raw," (Ibadan) "Church Lady," (Defected) "Underground Is My Home," (King Street Sounds), "Touched the Sky" (King Street Sounds), “Transitions” (King Street Sounds), “P 2 Da J” (Defected),  “Sinfonia Della Notte” (Strictly Rhythm), “Hey Hey” (Objektivity), “Red Room” (Objektivity), “Underground” Nick Curly – Dennis Ferrer Remix (Defected), to name a few, have all been huge dance floor anthems and all show a different side of the Ferrer personality as well as his impressive range as producer and remixer.

Ferrer has brought his ‘anything goes’ approach to his label, Objektivity.  Celebrating its 8th anniversary in 2014, the imprint has thus far focused itself on vocals, featuring often unlikely turns from indie heroes like Ane Brun and Télépopmusik. Low slung and deep, Objektivity is a cutting-edge label in touch with its time, putting a uniquely American spin on the deep house revival that is currently making waves in Europe. Objektivity is a living, breathing thing - one that's set to drop bombs on the dance floor for years to come.

While Ferrer closes out 2013 with “Mind Ur Step” (Defected), “Mind Ur Dub” (Objektivity) and a remix of Coyu - “Salvation” (Noir Music), the best is yet to come. With a deep knowledge of the past and a constant push for the future, Ferrer remains one of the true greats of house music - a leader and innovator whose enjoying the buzz around him but keeping on pushing the limits.
