The Project (2001)

For a radio show I created two trance mixes. Crafted for that legendary moment when, after two hours of house, the broadcast shifted into a full hour of pure, cutting-edge trance. This recording captures that hour exactly as it happened, live and unfiltered.

This mix is a re-run of a set I played at a private party,  a blend of trance and hard trance straight from 2001. With a selection pulled from my personal vinyl collection, I once again managed to get people on the dancefloor.

The seventh mix in this series is another true reflection of what you could expect at major events and in the clubs back then. Inspired by legendary nights like Trance Energy and the early years of the now-iconic A State of Trance, this set captures the sound and energy of that era.

Back in 2001 I created this mix, a compilation of tracks from the era when Cosmic Gate had just exploded onto the scene. Their sound was raw, powerful, and a lot harder than what they’re known for today. I had a lot of their records in my collection and at some point it just felt right to create a fully dedicated mix in their honor.

There’s one track in here that isn’t actually by them. I picked up a white label in a record store with “AWESOME Cosmic Gate Sound!!” scribbled on it, only to find out later that it was actually a Mellow Trax production. But the energy matched so well that I decided to keep it in anyway.

Enjoy this dedicated mix, Hard Trance exactly the way it was meant to be in the early 2000s!
