Fun Facts:
This song is in the key of Dm.
Its original title was Stormwarning Skank.
The chorus has an extra beat or two which caused several tricky moments as the whole thing was sequenced at half tempo.
One of those tricky moments involved an assortment of count tracks that we made to try out various permutations of beats in the bar.
The combined result of all these spoken numbers was pure audio bonkerness.
This was one of the earliest Dark Company songs and was played a few times by Dark Company's first incarnation with Rowena on sax, Simon on trumpet, Craig on keys, Jeff on bass and Ben on drums.
As yet we have not found a good recorded version in our archives, although we shall keep looking.

* Blown Away is a piece that is about surprise, although it actually contains few true musical surprises.
* Holding tight to shaky foundations that you know will not last, in order to survive one big difficulty, leads to yet another big difficulty further along.
* Blown Away is a reminder that next time, one should trust one’s intuition and refrain from such tomfoolery.
* The key for Blown Away is E major and the tempo is 125 BPM.
* The whole tune grew out of the C# minor to C section quite quickly in October 2000.
* There are quite a lot of guitar parts, quiet ones that you don’t hear on the first listening.
* A guitar far back in the mix is playing G# while the rest of the band plays C.
* This helps to set up a weird dissonant mood.
* The lead part where the sustained notes turn to feedback was fun and very satisfying to record.
* George says it is something he learned from Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser, lead guitarist of Blue Oyster Cult.
* Dave plays the bassline on his Fender.

'OUT OF THE DARKNESS'

Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune is the third movement of his Suite Bergamasque, written for solo piano and completed in 1905. The title, meaning “Moonlight,” is inspired by Paul Verlaine’s poem, evoking a serene and reflective atmosphere. The Freaks (Shall Inherit The Earth) by Alchemeon, from Alchemeon Live In Session Spring 2009.

The Freaks (Shall Inherit the Earth) is a glorious rock n roll anthem and call to action in the key of G major. It was performed by the Spacegoats before Alchemeon started playing it. The Freaks (Shall Inherit the Earth) would have been the final song in an Alchemeon set, with Orb and Finale as encores.

During this rendition one of Jim's keyboards started to misbehave. It was either too quiet or too loud and harsh despite his numerous and ongoing fiddlings and twiddlings. At 3:29 he becomes a bit frustrated and gives it a good bash.

I owe much of my presence in music now to Paul Kossoff's Guitar Solo on Free's 'All Right Now' That raw sound and emotion blasting out of an old radio, had a great impact on me as a child.

That was my Musical Moment!

For years after, i sang in School Choirs.        In my Teens i was the Drummer in the band, then i lifted the Guitar learned a few chords and became the Singer/Guitarist in the band!

These days it's just myself and my trusty Canadian S&P 12 String on the road Gigging!

In the four decades since hearing 'Free', i have enjoyed a wide and varied mix of musical styles.This is very much reflected in my own writing and composing.

I enjoy the challenge of being a home Recording Artist, using Mbox with Pro Tools.
 
I like the concept of Soundcloud, the musical Sharing and Caring etc, but i'm also a realist.

i am only one of many sounds that make a Soundcloud!
