I recorded this set shortly after the death of my father last year for a channel that didn't want to publish it because it resulted to be too dark. So well, hello darkness my old friend. 
This set will take you to another place, for me a bit mystical and comfortable, but sometimes also disturbing, heavy and challenging. 
The loss of a loved person made me question everything, including healthcare system, the allocation of resources in our fragile world, and for sure the question that is always in my head since some years: why do we need wars? The destruction is too big even without them.
"Are you okay?" - asking a voice somewhere in the middle of the set.
And no, I'm not okay! I'm mad, upset, bored, lost and sometimes I feel as if my hands were tied so I cannot change anything. But the real hope is when everything is burning, you still have your seeds and planting the trees. After the storm is over, the shadow inside you becomes a colourful world, and you can let good things come in, step by step.

Let the sun shine, let the sunshine in. Just be good to each other and don't forget that one day, we will all be free - I hope so, and as Hope is my name, maybe it is powerful.

Ah, 2019. What a year it's been. I don't know about y'all but mine has been quite insane... especially this summer.

One of my highlights was playing a small festival out in the middle of the woods / on a lake front for one of my best friend's birthday parties. He threw a little festival for himself and asked me to close the whole night out. 3am to 6am. woof. Not to mention the fact that it was the day after I landed in Seattle from Germany. double Woof. I was so delirious, tired, all the feels you'd expect.

I played a mix of downtempo, with a dash of hip hop throwbacks and instrumentals I had, because most of the crowd was dying out so I wanted to experiment. A select group of friends stayed up the entire time, and when I finally gave the decks a rest, one friend told me "dude, that was the most gangster set I've ever heard....it was tribal, it was earthy and spiritual, but it had like, a thuggish attitude about it..."

I smiled and laughed, but it stuck with me for the rest of summer and into fall. Jungle spiritual beats with a thug attitude about it... interesting... Thus...this mix, was born!

I've been working on this mix for a few months, so apologies for the tardiness. I wanted to really nail the story, the setting. I envisioned a concrete jungle perhaps... a throwback gangster jungle ride... hehe. There hasn't been a LOST mix out in a while. I went through so many takes, so many mistakes, bad mixes, but this one was a journey. I honestly could have recorded another hour or so, I have so many sick edits I wanted to include but I figured it's already waaaay too long haha!

Wie hieß es bei Monty Python doch gleich: „And now for something completely different“. Passender könnte man die Vorstellung unserer neusten Podcast-Ausgabe nicht einleiten, denn etwas „komplett anderes“ erwartet den Hörer.

Es ist gar nicht so einfach, die richtigen Worte für den Künstler, dem wir dieses außergewöhnliche Set zu verdanken haben, und seinen Sound zu finden. Vielen wird http://soundcloud.com/paul-valentin vermutlich ein Begriff sein, denn seine „Valium“-Reihe gibt es nun schon seit 2010 zu hören. Sie zeichnet sich durch eine sehr seltene Einzig- und eben Andersartigkeit aus. Das erreicht Paul Valentin sicher durch die mehr als ungewöhnliche Trackauswahl, bei der auch mal reine Instrumentalstücke, die gar nicht aus dem elektronischen sondern eher aus dem klassischen Bereich kommen, verwendet werden. 

Generell spürt man bei seinem Sound die Liebe zu klassischen Instrumenten, so kommen sie auch sehr häufig in seinen Produktionen zum Einsatz. Man bekommt das Gefühl, hier entsteht wirklich noch größtenteils handgemachte Musik. Und deshalb entwickelt sich beim Hören immer der Eindruck von besonderer Tiefe, Emotionaltät und Authentizität. Besonders freut uns, dass er dies in unserem Podcast mit zwei bisher unveröffentlichten eigenen Tracks unter Beweis stellt, die es bis zum Erscheinen der EP später in diesem Jahr vorerst nur hier zu hören geben wird. Aber auch ansonsten haben seine Tracks schon den Weg in zahlreiche Sets gefunden; seine Remixe von Jonas Kimmelmann und Hannes Smith seien hier nur als Beispiele genannt.

Freut euch also auf ein Set, welches einfach wunderschön anders ist. Es ist zwar kurz aber dafür um so intensiver. Und es lädt ein zum Augenschließen, Davontreiben, Eintauchen und sich verzaubern lassen!
