Razor-N-Tape welcomes Cody Currie back to the catalog with an extended EP of soulful and jazzy original sounds. A project that’s been in the works since his label debut back in 2017, the “Cody Currie EP” is a refined statement of the rising star producer’s UK-jazz and club roots, both danceable and introspective. Enlisting a talented roster of collaborators, such as vocalists Stee Downes, RNT mainstay Cor.ece, and newcomer Marlena Dae as well as instrumentalists Mikeal and Ally McMahon, each track is like a little world of its own in the universe of Cody’s vast musical aesthetic. To round out the EP we have a stellar remix from European deep house royalty Vincenzo, who shows that his production tools are still sharp as ever.

Two years on from their widely acclaimed third album, This Bit of Earth, Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson are back on the Go Deep label with their latest long player.
What I Mean By Beautiful touches on the previous collection’s themes of upheaval and dislocation, digging through the lost and found of modern life and always looking for light in dark places.
The album marks something of a return to the duo’s house music roots, with a four-to-the-floor foundation underpinning many of the eleven tracks. It exudes a warm, natural sound, where samples sit with modular synths, programmed drums with live loops, and quirky plugins with obscure outboard gear.
Opening track, “I Float in the Clouds”, sets a dramatic tone with intricately interwoven guitar and keyboard lines, fragmented, spectral vocals and deep, melodic bass. Tempos range widely throughout the record, from the loose, low-slung grooves of “So They Were Changed” and “High Wire”, to the infectious, mid-paced title track, to the intense house workouts of “You Came Into My Life” and “All In Everything”. Greg and Shane’s long established dub leanings are also in evidence, especially on the slow motion churn of “Low Tide Dub” and spacious atmospherics of “South Gate Step”. The album closes on an open and optimistic note with the soothing pads and deep electronic pulse of “Be Brave”, the result of a collaborative project with author Lisa McInerney and actor, Hillary Rose.

Premiere: Heritage Listed - Midnight to Midtown

Debuting on brand new Berlin based house music label Ascension on Wax, Irish producer Glenn Davis is here with his 8th release, Space and Time EP, featuring 4 tracks. With subtle jazz references and motifs, skilful production layering, dreamy deep house chords and vocal sampling; this is one of Davis’s most accomplished releases to date.
The tracks Space And Time and Party With Me have stunning vocals and deep house keys which form the foundations of the tracks.They have a truly hypnotic effect as they progress and take the listener on a musical journey as the different layers of the songs reveal themselves.The former is perfect for playing earlier in the night and the latter, a dance floor ready number which will be sure to get the crowd going.
Following these, are Girl U Gotta and a remix of the same track by the talented jazz musician, sound engineer and producer Mark Hand. Girl U Gotta samples Aretha Franklin and the song has strong elements of the iconic 90’s sound house heads know and love so well.The remix is arguably the heaviest track on the release with accomplished jazz keys throughout and a fat bassline which will knock dancers off their feet.

Ascension on Wax is also releasing a limited pressing special edition of Space and Time EP in a gatefold format in collaboration with the legendary late artist Dan Graham. It is exclusively available via the labels bandcamp page on a first come first serve basis.

Ten Fingerz is paying tribute to the roots of House Music and French House with his new 3-traker EP « Jeux de Mains » to be released on Frappé January 26th.

« Loopy B » opens the record on a very French Touch note : the parisian producer has chopped up a soulful brass and vocal sample, adding drums and compression to make it a dancefloor hit reminiscent of the late 90s french productions.
The second track called « Dizco Ztringz » explores the relation between the disco and house music sounds. 909-style drums are thumping over a disco infused string loop and a funky bassline, while the voice sample does the disco-era storytelling. Taking us somehwere between the Studio 54 and the Warehouse.
Finally « Our DNA » is built around an interview about house music production, adding layers to the track as the voice explains that the DNA of electronic music comes from the drums and the melody. A funky rhodes loop driving the track to its climax. Dancefloor-blasting material.
