Southland Sounds is dedicated to promoting southern artist who personify a particular Southern Folk, Southern Gothic, and Americana styles. Historical examples of artists who we regard as prime examples of this genre are Bobbie Gentry and Hank Williams, Sr.

A common theme of this genre involves unreciprocated love and extreme feelings of loss. Songs are many times presented in story form. The visions of abandonment and destitution are frequent. The genre is related to the Southern Gothic style novels by writers such as Mark Twain, William Faulkner and Harper Lee. 

Themes also often examine poverty, crime, religion, death, ghosts, family, alcohol, murder, and betrayal. Southland Sounds is owned and operated by songwriter John Edens of Athens, AL.
