During the summer holidays of 2010, boredom struck and 7 young men decided to use a valuable gift from the Almighty God to occupy themselves. A musical group was formed in Cross Street, Roseau, with members from the communities of Goodwill, Newtown, and Emshall of ages 16-24. The band itself got on the way in August that year when it was named "Signal Band" with its first live performance being on August 20, 2010 at a family fun day in Marigot, Dominica.
 
From since then, the group of young musicians has embarked on a musical journey to market themselves as a group and individually. From inception, the band adopted a Groovy Soca style, but in trying to avoid limitations, openhandedly began to appreciate the other genres of creole influence, namely Cadence, Zouk, Reggae, and Bouyon. However, the mentioned genres were never the boundary. The band was contracted by the Q Talent Search organisers in 2012 to provide musical accompaniment to artists who performed Calypso, R&B and Soca and really executed their task very well as far as the reviews from the organisers and public were concerned. Signal Band has performed at other grand events such as LIME Creole in the Park, East Fest 2010, Mayfest 2011, Feast of St. Peter, Opening of Dominica’s Carnival, the launching of the World Creole Music Festival 2013 and made its debut at the 17th Annual World Creole Music Festival. Signal has also performed at many pageants, village feasts and shows and at all top entertainment venues in Dominica. 

The group has so far released eleven (11) singles; one (1) zouk, one (1) calypso, two (2) groovy soca songs two (2) up-tempo soca songs and five (5) bouyon songs. In an effort to be marketed on wider scale, the band has also taken up collaboration as a priority. This clearly explains the versatility and the level of performances that Signal delivers. The group most times aim to play a bit of everything in effort please the various lovers of the different genres that they play. The band takes live performances very seriously and always goes the extra mile into putting on a show that will have an everlasting effect which may include dancers and other forms of stage presentation. This is why Signal has been booked for shows like the above mentioned.

Signal's membership features few of Dominica’s young popular public icons; most notable, Sheldon Alfred, who won the Junior Calypso Competition three (3) years consecutively and as of 2012, recruited the young calypso figure, Jamaal Lloyd, also known as Black Diamond. In 2012, the band also brought on board Mr. Jerlani Robinson, prominent youth cricketer at the local and regional level as its Manager and Booking Agent. 

At the 2013 National Youth Rally, the group was awarded by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development for “Music and Community Involvement.” 

The band aims to be one of the most respected musical groups locally, regionally internationally and to keep leaving a smile on the face of the many different patrons whom it entertains.
