And to welcome us back Kibosh has kindly emptied his robot studio of all the odds and ends that he's been keeping 'somewhere safe’, to serve up this rip thumping summer funk-stroller ‘Struck’ - which is yours for free! Oh no, you're very welcome!

The bad news is you're going to have to actually get dressed*, put on your pants, roll up your sleeves and join us on the dancefloor! It's ok, it's in our back garden, don't worry about the wasps, we've got them drunk on ginger tears. Kibosh is giving out mats on the helter skelter, there's a flaccid bouncy castle and I'm looking after the tunnel of goats! Does your life need more cowbell and funky bass?  

Over the past decade there has been a strong connection between Washington DC and British Columbia, Canada. Both places have produced and nurtured some incredibly talented funkateers, many of whom have remixed Fort Knox Five over the years. It has been a dream of ours to collaborate with these artists on original tracks, pushing forward the future sound of funk to start a new era that we have dubbed "DC to BC." This release is the first of these collaborations, and the end result is nothing short of a boogie monster!  

Jinglin’ Janglin’ was written with the funk and glitch hop maestro K+lab, a New Zealander who now calls Vancouver, BC home. His funky keys, electro-basses and catchy clavinets ooze all over this track. With the addition of Rob Myers' Chic-inspired guitars and a super-stabby horn line, this track positively bounces along – a perfect hybrid of the K+Lab and FK5 styles! On top of all that, the tune features vocals from Hip-Hop royalty: Baby Bam of the Jungle Brothers, who has worked alongside De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest going back to the 1980s. His vocals bubble all over the track, telling you to just "funk wit it" and jinglin and janglin the vibes straight to your feet! This tune is a modern funk-meets-glitch hop banger that has been torching dance floors and festivals all summer.  

We are super stoked to launch the DC to BC series with this wicked Captain K+lab collaboration. Already proven to do heavy duty on the dance floor, this release includes an instrumental mix for the DJs. Keep the funk janglin’ with this booty-shaker and stay tuned for the next installment of the DC to BC collabs.

 Wolf + Lambs' San Fran trio Pillowtalk join the W+L Black edits crew, serving up tastefully housed-up reworks of soul gems. First up they get the scissors out on Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's late 60s soul anthem "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", turning it into an extended, chugging disco-soul bomb. Next up is Bobby Hebb's version of the classic "Sunny", this time with the simplest of house beats added, making this an essential for Marcy Hotel nights. Lastly the Festivals' super-slow soul smoocher "You've Got The Makings Of A Lover" gets seriously pepped-up, with BPMs pushed towards peak-time dancefloor action.

If you have to leave the city and move to the country side to train DJing to the perfect tunes L-O-U-D - so DO IT!
