one of Rio de Janeiro’s DJ scene highlights, Carrot Green brings his city’s musical traditions to the modern dancefloor. It is easy to find in his sets different styles such as Techno, Slo-House and Old disco, making him a versatile artist that adapts to virtually any type of circumstance. 

as a red bull music academy’s alumni in 2013, he expresses his eclecticism not only with sets at parties, clubs and festivals such as Voodoohoop, Mamba Negra, ODD, Dekmantel, Katerblau, Wilden Renate and Mareh Festival, but as well in his musical productions - solo or in partnership with national and international artists like the electronic music group Teto Preto, Eric Duncan and Selvagem. Last but not least, he signs collaborations and productions for Disco Halal, Barefoot Beats, Mamba Records and other labels.

so don’t be surprised if you hear carrot green playing a mix of acid house and techno after a set by marcel dettman at 7AM or hypnotizing the dance floor with shamanic rhythms at 90 BPM for an audience in trance. This is the kind of unpredictability that will remind you of carrot green for a long time.

3 QUESTIONS to PYSH:

Q: Please take us deep into your mix - a lot of 'happy vibes': How do
you reflect your early days and what did this music mean to you once?

A: In my „How I Met the Bass” episode I wanted to show the songs that made me interested in electronic music (like house) and those that are related to special events, such as my first vinyl record, music videos that I return to, or parties when I was starting my adventure with deejaying.

Q: Would you still play some of those tracks in your DJ sets today?

A: I play more complex or stronger music in my current DJ sets because my style has evolved, however, there are events where I go back to older tracks, like the boat parties I promote with my friends in Berlin.

Q: Which projects are you currently working on? So: What can we expect
from you soon?

A: I am currently working on new demos and developing my Live Act to be ready for the summer season. Besides that I am waiting for two releases planned for April and May: "Codename Eagle" composed with Gespona, which will be released on Artminding and a re-edit of "Say Yes" (Atmosphere) done with Bondar (San Diego), and Lazarusman which became more energetic than the original and you can expect a music video!

entering sonority through many doors holding different worlds at once yet moving in a line like just like a trip like a spine this time quite rhythmically but somehow stumbling anyways a bit out of range out there where there is live is rain in a tent in a forest in summer actually I wanted to write a text about a magic wand and a sand grain but then i couldn’t decide if the text should end with slime, gravity or wetness bouncing and thereby producing a delicious sound

Comprised of violins, violas, cellos and double basses, the strings form an emotionally powerful section of a symphony orchestra. Those instruments are Andi Otto’s specialties and passions; characterizing his early formation. After studying cello as a teenager, Andi stepped into the endless dimension of electronic music production and debuted his first releases as Springintgut. Once he had explored the possibilities offered by electronic devices, Andi's love for concert moved him to embrace his cello, and to develop an innovative system of sensors to mount on it. This prototypical instrument, which he re-named “Fello”, has become Andi’s companion in live performances and studio productions. Given his passion for strings, they are the main theme of the mix that the scientist-musician prepared for UCR. Moved by his insatiable curiosity, Andi has undertaken an exploration of the use of strings across modern music and decided to bring our listeners along the mesmerizing sound journey. The voyage begins with the notes of a legend, the inspired and inspiring musician known as Alice Coltrane. “This mix is my personal ode to her legacy”, Andi stated. The strings exploration gradually fades along the mix and leaves space to ambient sounds which inspired Andi for his latest productions. Abundant far-eastern motifs and chants confer profound spiritual energy to this mix, and that is the ultimate meaning of being musician according to Andi: “It’s about the spiritual energy which can be coded into sound by people, instruments, bodies, and ears." We at UCR cannot find better words to express such an inspiring concept and invite our listeners to absorb the energy that Andi sent to us with his rhapsodic selection.
