Our 4th guest in the 'Introducing' series is a talented Lithuanian dj @djtikkun.

Karolis says that music he enjoys and plays can be best described as 'Africa is in my heart' or any style or genre that's rich in afro, organic, folk or percussive elements. It sometimes feels that Afro music defies time as the same sounds that were used 20-30 years ago are still in use today. Therefore it's extra fun to mix these old, original sounds with the new ones. He tries not to stick to one particular genre when playing and tries to avoid being genre-locked. Not everyone enjoy or appreciate eclectic djs, but there's plenty of them out there that are masters of their craft and it's more than enough names to learn from or be inspired by. 

So crank up your stereos and enjoy Tikkun's mix which will surely transport you into the middle of ancient ritual somewhere deep inside Mama Africa.

1st hour, guest mix: @max-essa

Max Essa has been active as a DJ and producer since the early 90s, initially releasing music on labels such as Warp Records and paperecordings and DJing alongside the infamous D.i.Y Sound System.
His most recent work, for labels like Is It Balearic..? Recordings, has been play-listed by the likes of Andrew Weatherall and the late David Mancuso, gaining him a devoted following around the world.
2015 saw his first release with a major label in the shape of the ‘Vacations Never Taken’ CD for Victor Entertainment (ビクター/JVC) (Japan). The same year also found him completing another round of world-wide DJ bookings in Brazil, Indonesia, and Vietnam to name but a few.
2017 sees Max continuing his hectic weekly DJ schedule in Tokyo as well as playing the length and breadth of Japan from Sapporo to Okinawa, and releases are scheduled (and already has been released earlier this year) for Eskimo Recordings, HELL YEAH recordings!, Palms & Charms, and Is It Balearic?
Sekko Mekko EP (Including a remix from Craig Bratley) is set to be released in early October on Is it Balearic? and you will have a chance to hear the one of the tracks from this EP in midnattssoula's mix.
Also Max revives his own Jansen Jardin (@jansen-jardin-tokyo) label from long hibernation and it will soon feature a very limited cassette release 'Some Backland Plaza' by Karel Arbus & Eiji Takamatsu. Available only through Jansen Jardin bandcamp for all true diggers and enthusiasts, so don't sleep and grab it will it's there!

2nd hour, resident mix: @midnattssoula 

Two tracks from Max in this mix: one has been already released on @eskimorecordings earlier this year and Sekko Mekko EP is coming out shortly on Is it Balearic? (@coyotesounds). 
And two tracks from Mr. @the-beat-broker. One from his newest album 'Back to business' on @bearfunk and another from the fresh, but long overdue release on LA'a @sentrall records. Shoutouts to the pacifica boys! ; )
