Alarico returns to Mutual Rytm with his ‘Drops Of You’ EP, packed with his mind-bending signature rhythms while focussing on a more minimal and atemporal approach than before. 

Milan-based artist Alarico has firmly arrived on the world stage in recent years. Taking cues from the harder realms of techno of the 90s, he adds his own quirky rhythms and quickened sense of groove to showcase his modern take on the genre. Building on material dropping via his own Katana Records, with high-profile support from big- name DJs across the scene, he breaks new ground again here on this compelling new EP as he returns to SHDW’s label Mutual Rytm with ‘Drops Of You’. 

Excellent opener ‘0 Kelvin’ races out of the blocks with wiry synths and percussion that sounds like knives being sharpened, all over tight, punchy techno drums. ‘One More’ then gets more twisted with freaky synth lines scurrying about the mix while hammering hits and bouncy drum programming races onwards into an unknown future. 

‘Asma’ slips into a deeper but no less impactful groove - the tightly coiled drum funk is overlaid with soulful vocal whispers and militant snares that cannot fail to sweep dancers away. Next, the slick ‘Sunburn’ keeps the pace high and is another warp-speed techno excursion with bold drum patterns and dry hi-hats cutting up the beats. It’s a fulsome sound fleshed out with great synth detail and euphoric vocal cries, before closer ‘Drops Of You’ layers broken beats, vocal snippets and psychedelic synth colours into an intense and emotional workout. 

Alongside the vinyl cuts, three digital-only offerings are also loaded into this one as a trio of treats in the form of ‘Sino’, ‘What For’ and ‘Erased’, with each track harnessing pacy, energetic rhythms, a mix of bright and murky sonics, and tunnelling grooves crafted for maximum impact.

We premiere music from one of the leading names within techno today, Alarico. The Primal Instinct Records boss returns to SHDW & Obscure’s fabled imprint Mutual Rytm with an eight track EP, blending with his signature groove with new exceptional sound design and sharp minimalistic techniques.

Alarico is back on Mutual Rytm with his ‘Drops Of You’ EP. The Italian’s return to SHDW & Obscure Shape‘s imprint see’s him breaks new territory once again as he flexes a wealth of intricate production technqiues across eight dancefloor armed tracks.

The Milan-based artist Alarico has firmly established himself as one of the leading names within techno in recent years. Taking inspiration from the harder realms of techno from the 90s, he adds his own quirky rhythms and quickened sense of groove to showcase his modern take on the genre. He is one of the few new techno producers that has really a unique sound and charisma within his tracks. Using occult samples and granular synthesis to his full advantage the young producer has crafted an inspiring sound that is truly isolated from other producers.

We premiere his latest offering ‘Sino’ taken from is eight-track EP on Mutual Rytm. This locked-groove is simply made for the dancefloor, as sun-kissed dub chords take the front seat on this one, while chunky drums lay the foundation for a stomping rhythm. Alarico leaves his signature imprint all over this, as an infectious vocal hit lays over the top of crispy percussive grooves, making this an instant mood-lifter.

For Frenzy’s 5th installment, we’ll take the fusion of the past and the present even further. We present you a 6-track EP by Swedish DJ and producer ‘The Miller’, who was amongst the Nordic wave of early 2000s techno pioneers like Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer, and Joel Mull. Coming from an era where rave and nightlife escapism were blooming, The Miller possesses a vast backlog of old-school productions that embody the true Frenzy sound. We invited him to compile an EP with old and new material, accompanied by remixes from the up-and-coming generation to truly intertwine generations of dancefloor exquisiteness. Allow yourself to surpass the linear alignment of time within the next collision of decades on Frenzy 005. It’s time to dance.

Starting out slow but steady on the A side, ‘Kartong’ gradually builds up the pressure with a playful mix of reversed phrases and thoughtful alignment of pitch levels. Tension transforms into motion as ‘Apex’ kicks in with big airy basslines and exotic drum elements that keep the early-day spirit alive. To complete the A-side, Stuttgart-based Rove Ranger presents a dub-influenced remix of Apex, accelerating the 00s story straight into the next decade. On the flip side, we go back to the old days as ‘Complied’ grabs hold of hips and minds with catchy repetition and a straightforward bassline. The Miller got us spellbound as ‘Gate’ follows up with a stripped-down steamy groover. To end the journey in full force, a powerful remix of Gate by the Greek-based ANNĒ is delivered, converting stripped down into the contrary for those big-room dancefloor moments.

For the 6th Frenzy instalment, we’re hitting close to home as residents Beau Didier & Isaiah step in. Although these stars on the rise need little to no introduction, it feels like the right moment to have a moment to shed light on the ethos of this Dutch-producing duo. Both having roots in the Dutch rave scene, they carved out a true-to-the-core approach to techno, becoming highly functional to keep dancefloors around the globe rolling without any stop to it. They deliver a 6-track storyline that lives up to that craft including remixes by Italian Hertz Collision & Belgium techno-pioneer Steve Redhead.

‘Workin’ introduces the A-side and sets the scene for the EP with vibey rhythms and blissful vocals. The ‘Change’ gets naughty with sway-induced low-ends and striking highs sure to make hips shake across the dancefloor. Landing down from up-high energy, Hertz Collision delivers an atmospheric remix with hypnotic elements and a darker touch. On the B-side, the two residents take over the steering wheel again, which can be felt immediately. ‘Fusion’ is a track that takes repetitive motion to another level, the type of track that makes you stay longer in the morning hours. To close off with elegance - ‘CD-Rom’ elevates to gracious states with enchanting spheres and spells.

Adding another dimension to it all, Steve Redhead delivers two remixes of which one is a digital bonus. Words can’t live up to the force, this is a transition back to the 00s hard techno era.
