Perhaps it takes a certain amount of Quixotic "imagination" to fight the giants of improvisation... always an adventure. This time, I am joined briefly by my own "Sancho" who goes by the name of "Cato" (I really should close my door when I record... :)

‘Gyae Su’ is a rearrangement of an older song, with a guitar concept typical of the classic Kwa or Kumasi bands and an overall tropical style. Ebo Taylor’s horn arrangements evoke the classic Afro-funk vibe that he originally made famous. The lyrics are as catchy as they are plaintive, with Thomas comforting the listener, “Don’t cry! Life has its ups and downs. Just take it easy and don’t shed any tears.”

When I first composed this track a few years ago, based on an original idea by my friend Benjamin, I felt elated - like I had reached a new level of creativity. Little did I know then that I would be able to realise what were actually merely sketches into fullfledged songs, thanks to the SoundCloud community. Finally I've come around to also elevate my old favorite "Recurrent Occurrence" with a little help of my friends; Derek on the finest jazz guitar to be found on SC, always awesome Michelle on jazzy vocals and introducing Magnus on EWI. 

This funk-fusion-chillout is best indulged laid back, with the sun in your eyes behind sunglasses, and something cold in your hand, looking forward to the pleasures of the night. Enjoy!
