Graciously impacted with ivory flourishes and the sensual vocalizations of personal politics that defined early soul and jazz, Zetroc is the passion project of multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and Alexandria native, Jamey Brown. Initially emerging as an instrumental artist in 2008, Brown as Zetroc eventually honed his affinity for lyricism, furthering the seamless melding already carried between his intimacy and experimentation with electronic music and psychedelia. From that point onward, he found his sound and crafted his art, leading up to the release of his premier EP, Atrophy, in January 2014.
Yet intimately inspired by personal tastes, touches and a few occasional misgivings, the sound and aesthetic of Atrophy – and Zetroc himself, – remain without description. The self-produced EP is a lesson in catharsis, yearning and fervency radiating through its seven tracks while Zetroc wrestles with love, loss, misdirection and hope with subtle electronic loops and keyboard-accompanied bedroom croons. Currently playing across the Louisiana circuits, more muchly anticipated ventures will come from Zetroc as they develop.
