This spring, Los Angeles-based Durante and HANA release their debut EP on Anjunadeep ‘13 Voices’. Championed by the likes of Bonobo, RÜFÜS DU SOL and Grimes respectively, the duo combine deep grooves with HANA's angelic vocals.

Delicate arpeggios open the EP on title-track ‘13 Voices’, whilst Anjunadeep 11 favourite ‘Days Pass’ showcases HANAs mesmeric songwriting atop tribal percussive textures. Closing the EP is ‘Starglow’, a club-ready track with a thumping bassline that demonstrates Durante’s flair for intersecting house and techno.

Durante & HANA - Days Pass

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Been following dance music since the early days, started off listening to house, migrated to techno after listening to a life changing essential mix from Darren emerson and being educated by a friend back home about the joys and intricacies of techno who also introduced me to the Arches in Glasgow when it was in full swing with the Slam boys doing their weekly sessions.

Always looking for music that challenges and pushes the boundaries and I still like to keep an open mind and ears to all kinds of music from general pop, rock and Jazz. My passion still remains for techno which I fell is often misunderstood to be banging 4/4 euro trance. Music has to be about emotion and feeling, with my insprations and loves coming in particular the Detroit sound from the likes of Robert Hood, Carl Craig. However, not forgetting my Glasgow roots, they have been central to my inspiration. Maybe it's the dull grey winter nights that helps bring out the creativity in us!

Hoping that I can share my passion and enthusiasm and give something for others to enjoy while getting plenty of personal pleasure at the same time.
