Following in the footsteps of Anjuna superstars Mat Zo, ARTY, ilan Bluestone and Grum, the tenth instalment in the legendary Anjunabeats Worldwide compilation series leads you to the darkest of dance floors; an underground techno and trance trip courtesy of US-based duo Fatum.

Ubiquitous on Anjuna over the last decade in various guises, Bruce Karlsson and Daniel Davis have been responsible for an abundance of catalogue classics.

Bruce was an architect of the electro-tinged grooves that made Norin & Rad a tour-de-force throughout the early 2010s with the likes of ‘Bloom’, ‘Pistol Whip’ and ‘Thundercat’. Dan, crate-digger and intricate melody maker as Judah (w/ Chris Nelson), responsible for the likes of ‘Boss Fight’, ‘Nomad’ and ‘Zero-Day’.

Always found at their best together, Fatum launched as a quartet in 2015 alongside Chad Newbold and the sorely missed Bill Hamel. Boisterous floor fillers ‘Chocolate, ‘Love On A Real Train’ (Tangerine Dream Cover) and ‘All In’ followed, the latter reworked by Above & Beyond in May 2020.

Anjunabeats Worldwide 10 is a 21 track journey championing the past, present and future sound of the label. There are five original productions from Fatum themselves, including collaborations with Jaytech, Mars Atlas, LYCA and re:boot. Mainstays of the Anjunabeats family Mat Zo, Genix, Grum, ALPHA 9 and Sunny Lax are present, while Anjunabeats Rising graduates Naz and Alex Sonata & TheRio have their first outing on a label compilation.

Fatum also bring cult favourites back to the dance floor, reworking Andy Moor and Adam White’s ‘Whiteroom’ and Above & Beyond’s ‘Alone Tonight’ - the sought-after Alexandra Palace remix which first aired nearly a decade ago.

Tempo Giusto returns to melodic and progressive trance with a two-track EP. The 1st track, 'Incandescent', is a driving production with an emotional breakdown and presents a final main theme that shifts things to another gear. Sparkling with vivid details and beautiful melodies, Incandescent maintains solid energy throughout the track with brilliant atmospheric elements. Production of the 2nd work, 'Ikaros', begun with a live broadcast on social media when Tempo Giusto's followers asked him to make a progressive and slower track. In childhood it wasn’t a book Derek kept under his covers late at night – it was a pair of headphones. Listening to the late night shows on the Santa Monica university radio station KCRW he discovered the mind expanding experiences of synthesized soundscapes, adding a whole other dialect to his second language of music. (Japanese is his third, but that’s another story.)

Then, while living in France, Derek discovered the trance genre in Antiloop’s “Nowhere to Hide” and Energy 52’s “Cafe Del Mar” on a Love Parade compilation, bringing him ever closer to the melodic textures of this electronic world. One day, in Paris, guided by fate, he completed this crescendo when he accidentally stumbled upon his first outdoor rave – Derek was home.

Returning to the US, Derek headed for the San Francisco club and underground scene. He bought turntables in 2003, deciding to place himself directly in the flow of the sounds he came to love in the chaos and freedom of a Parisian street rave.

Ever since, he has dedicated himself to bringing the raw emotional power of melodic dance music to dance floors and headphones from the San Francisco Bay Area to Tokyo to Black Rock City and beyond through DJ appearances and crafting cutting edge melodic dance sounds in original studio productions, remixes, and collaborations such as BluDream, Panic, Fireflower and Aureal.

Derek Ryan tracks have been rocking clubs worldwide in the crates of such DJs as Giuseppe Ottaviani, M.I.K.E, Suzy Solar, Tempo Giusto, Imag’in, Steve Anderson and more, and have been played on top radioshows/podcasts including Trance Around The World, SAME, Amadeus, In Love For Trance.

Between rave-reviewed productions and live DJ sets described as “blissfully rippin”, Derek continues to live true to his motto of delivering driving melodic beats to the masses.
