Delibes - Flower Duet

'Scenes from the four seasons' is a collection of unreleased tracks and b-sides from 2012, running through the four seasons and stopping at some intimate moments in Winter, a tranquil evening in Autumn, two seaside scenes between Spring and Summer.

I decided to have all these tracks together in this collection not only because of the common theme, but above all because, when I started working on my first modern classical album, that will be released later this year, I didn't want to left all these works incomplete, even if they were mostly expression of ideas and style still imperfect and evolving.

I'm sure you'll find a moment of peace and tranquillity in these notes, and even some passages that represents your life during the seasons, an intimate moment, as when you're at home and the snow starts falling in winter, or when you first see the seaside in spring.

Thank you for taking time to listen to these songs. 
All your support is appreciated, especially in view of a strings recording session for the production of my new modern classical album.

The very first Fivos song I heard on SoundCloud was his beautiful and haunting Nightly Walker.  I asked Fivos to share with me his score so I could at least enjoy playing his Nightly Walker, and at Fivos' urging, I am going to post my version on SC.  

I will not attempt to be Fivos - I could never be as talented as Fivos, and his wonderful songs and playing.  I am just posting this simple and non-improvised version (except the ending) as a tribute to Fivos and as a thank you to all his wonderful music.  He is brilliant and this is just a "junior" version of Nightly Walker that I enjoyed recording.  

Thanks Fivos for the score and for your tremendous talent and music!  Keep on sharing it and we'll keep on listening.

We asked Stereo:Type about the process of making this mix, and here is what he had to say:

"When you're commissioned to make a mix for DJ Shadow, you know you have to pull something special out of the bag. Making sure it was a musical experience was as much a key part of this as making it a hype mix to listen to, considering you are working with material by a guy whose process involves finding sounds which work together as though they were made for one another. When i was approached to do this, I was asked to make the mix using material either sampled by, or remixed for or by Shadow. So Instead of making it a straight up one track into another kind of mix, I tried to approach it like a live performance, deconstructing tracks into their component parts then re-assembling and combining them with my own take on it. I certainly hope people have as much of a blast listening to it as i did making it."

The first time members of Gachpaj (گچ پژ) played together was back in the spring of 2007 when they played live for a performance of the play “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” in Tehran. What kept the members together till 3 months later they chose the name Gachpaj, was reaching a common musical ground from the beginning which was a direct result of the members’ similar musical ideologies. This same commonality is still apparent in the band’s improvisational styling.

Gachpaj is a jam band and like all other jam bands does not subscribe to one specific musical style. The band’s style is a combination of various musical genres such as Funk Rock, Alternative Rock, Experimental Rock and Krautrock. The Eastern influences seeping into the band’s music at times makes their sound close to Oriental music.

The instrumental make up of the band is the usual line up of bands playing the same style with one key difference: In Gachpaj, Saxophone replaces Keyboard giving their music an energetic, fresh sound.
They are well known for how they use Farsi lyrics in their Rock style songs.

The current members of Gachpaj are: Hooman Hamedani (Vocal), Hadi Sabet (Tenor Sax), Sohrab Hosseini (Acoustic & Electric Guitar), Arash Fattahi (Bass) and Pedram Hajbashi (Drums). Hooman Hamedani (Vocal) and Masoud Ahmadzade (Alto Sax) are past members who’re not actively playing with the band at the moment.

The band members got together for the first time in April 2007 to compose and play their music for the play The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Three weeks later with the addition of their vocalist the band was on stage at Sharif University’s Music Festival with three songs: Tashee Jenaze (The Funeral), Faramooshi (Amnesia) and Sahne 9 (Scene 9 – the last Scene of the play The Beauty Queen of Leenane).
