&#8220;Escapism&#8221; consists of constant old-school overtones, interpreted via modern instrumentation and that&#8217;s the first thing that comes right at you when you hear the familiar piano chords over the quirky rhythm section. A living, breathing bassline mimics the melody while hovering pads and a commanding, spoken word vocal all blend together to complete the affair. 
 As expected, dusbpeeka&#8217;s remix opts for a more sparse approach with claps piercing the thick atmosphere created by the spacious effects. The low-frequency rumble serves as fuel for this chugger as persistent hi hats and manipulated elements from the original all fall into place.

i hope u all enjoy my new track.. i shot a video in a warehouse in downtown LA 2 days after i arrived over a year ago but the footage came out unusable. i always felt like i owed it to that place to finish the job. so we went back down there and re shot these scenes.  didnt want to shoot a professional dance routine or choreography, i wanted to shoot how normal people feel and move.. i wanted it to be natural..  music i hope you like my new video and track.  J

Slave to the rhythm

Carlo Ruetz has built a strong reputation for his particular brand of precision tool techno. The Rostock-born producer and DJ has been making waves since taking the Beatport minimal techno charts by storm and turning the head of tastemaker Richie Hawtin. Welcoming him back to Oliver Huntemann’s killer Senso Sounds, 'Hypersonic' is a four track EP of rare quality.

'Don’t Know' kicks it off, a bruising, powerful cut that combines a tough-as-nails rhythm section with bubbling, acidic vibes. EP title track 

'Hypersonic' ups the ante even more - driving drums provide the bedrock for expressive percussion and a devastating bass pulse. 

'Simultan' continues the party -
a tech-house monster with filthy sub bass waves and firing rhythm track. The digital bonus track

'Rover' is a stripped down burner of a track with laser cut grooves and thick, atmospheric synth stabs that echo around the audio field.

Secret Cinema’s Gem Records return with two ice cold cuts by Serbian born, Berlin based, Patent Skillz label boss: DJ Lion. 

DJ Lion is a pioneer of techno in his native Serbia. He rose to fame with Richie Hawtin supporting his every release. He is an audio engineer and teacher and that reflects in his music. His Gem Records EP has a futuristic approach to dynamics with synths sticking out above mix, giving those raw sounds the energy in the mix instead of the usual kick drum. The two track EP has been a highlight in Secret Cinema’s sets for the past months with crowds going crazy for it. 

With Gem Records set to release EPs by Ramon Tapia, SQL, Transcode and Christopher Kah over the next few months, these are heady times for a label that continues to be rewarded for its consistent and innovative approach to contemporary electronic music.

'Legendary acid pioneer DJ Pierre has selected 12 killer acid tracks for his Afro Acid label and will release them as a special 2 x 12” vinyl on Record Store Day, then digitally later in the year, with names like Mark Archer, A Guy Called Gerald, K’Alexi & Tony Loveless and many more all featured.

In 1987 the first acid record, ‘Acid Tracks’, was released by the Chicago group Phuture—DJ Pierre, DJ Spank-Spank and Herb J—who thought to twist the knobs on the Roland TB-303 in such a way that it created an entirely new (and at that time, totally bizarre) instrumental sound that resonates to this day.

Acid 88 celebrates the origins of acid house by featuring a selection of new acid tracks from legendary artists and fresh, rising talent. Together these tracks showcase the breadth and depth of acid—from house to techno, from jackin to deep. It is also a tribute to the life and legacy of DJ Spank—may he rest in power.
Things kick off with rave master and Altern8 man Mark Archer who goes for a wild and wonky workout on ‘Jack The Box.’ Other legends like A Guy Called Gerald goes for a deeper, more creepy acid vibe on ‘Inter Funk’, while Chicago great K’ Alexi Shelby links with Tony Loveless for a super frantic techno pumper with ‘Rat Trap’ and Detroit native Ali Berger keeps things supple and subtle with his hypnotic ‘Wave Subarctic.’

Berlin native Alinka steps away from labels like Crosstown Rebels and Leftroom to take us on a lively peak time adventure that has a bassline to die for before Jaquarius offers up an instant classic. Chicago mainstay Hiroko Yamamura keeps things deep and driving with ‘Angles’ whilst elsewhere Acidulant, Lauren Flax, Hunter Lombard and Beyun all keep the quality high as they explore classic jack, minimalism and peak time jams all run through with their own unique acid styles.

This is an essential over view of modern acid that packs as much punch now as the original 303 sounds did way back in the eighties.'

trndmsk: What inspired "Apophenia"?

@arudeofficial: It was my usual day off. I woke up, made a coffee, and started working in my studio. I don't normally look for any inspiration, I just love to do it - writing music has become my habit.

Where and how did you record it? Tell us about the process, any cool tricks you did in Ableton, hardware used, etc.

I tried to find a new rhythm for my track. I guess I made it quickly. But the main thing was to create a dynamic track with a beautiful synthesizer in the lead roles. It was very difficult for me. I spent several days until I found the necessary sound. (...)

A year after the release of Adriatique’s debut LP, ‘Nude’, Afterlife presents a seven-track remix package to breathe new life into the originals.

The album found Adriatique, the duo of Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer, explore a more downtempo, contemplative sound than they were known for. Its profound musicality makes rich source material for a set of dancefloor interpretations, which Tale Of Us have curated together with Adriatique for the label’s 30th release.
