Gilberto Omar Sánchez Orozco is a composer and cellist from Mexico City. His composition mainly focuses on the metamorphosis of sound, using extended techniques for bow instruments mixed with electronical media. The musical form, structure and style of his work has an eclectic aesthetic and diverse generational and multi-ethnic influences. He has been a composer for Ballet companies, Theaters and soundtracks and has been invited to various music festivals and artistic projects both for playing his compositions and performing as a cellist. He has been the composer and creative director of the electroacoustic ensemble “Desconecte” (ThesconekT), with whom he played in international festivals in the U.S.A, Europe and Mexico. He has been the producer of his published CD’s.
 
His career as a cellist has a soloist repertoire that goes from the Baroque period to 20th century music, hyper instruments, jazz, Latin American music, pop rock and blues. From 2006 to 2017 he has been a member of the Orquesta Sinfonica del IPN in Mexico City. He also plays the Electric cello using analog effects, loops, parallel processes as well as computational media. Additionally, Omar plays the guitar, guitar bass, piano and has knowledge about modular synthesis.
