One of our favorite Desert Hearts Records artists, Lonely Boy, absolutely destroyed Sunday evening at our Spring Festival 2015. Armed with a tiger striped leotard jumpsuit and a gang of beautiful women prancing him, it was a spectacle to behold before he even played his first track. But once his music started bumping from the speakers it was obvious we were in for one of the best vibes of the entire festival. I think it's apparent Lonely Boy isn't so lonely anymore.

We first discovered Joyce Muniz aka "Our Favorite Brazilian Firecracker" when Sabo asked her to remix him and Mikey Lion's track 'Sally' earlier this year. She came back and delivered the ultimate heater on that EP and we could just tell from the energy of that track that we needed her at the festival. Sabo gave us a heads up that Joyce was wild, but this homegirl came in hotter than ever and blew us away with her infectious energy. We talk a lot about DJs that we vibe with at our parties, but it was clear from the get go that Joyce was was one of us. Whether on the decks or not, she entertained the fuck out of us and we're so happy to welcome her to the Desert Hearts Family.

This Desert Hearts Festival was incredibly special to us for too many reasons to count, but the reason that's always been paramount for us is the amount of love we have for our friends and family that have grown with us along the way. When we approached the decks for our grand finale set on Monday afternoon, it only felt right to invite some of our best friends to play alongside us for our favorite victory lap session. First we grabbed OG DH residents Justin Campbell, Kevin Anderson, Dink! & Tara Brooks to join in. Then we saw Evan Casey & Malcolm Brown dancing in the crowd and waved them onto stage to join the party. Finally, one of our oldest friends and heads of Pile Palace, Iwata, came on stage to say goodbye and we asked him if he had his music on him USBs. His eyes lighting up, we couldn't have dreamed to play such a triumphant, celebratory set alongside all of our favorite people. It was such a special moment and you can listen to it in all it's glory here.

LOST DIMENSION Vol 1

This mix series is going to touch on the sounds that I feel heighten the emotion of getting lost, exploring other spaces mentally and conquering the dark and challenging places of our own minds. 

Exploring emotionally heavy sounds has always been my most fascinating and rewarding time with music. From the influence Pink Floyd had on me, to the scores in my favorite movies, to the always expanding techno and ethereal sounds I have come to love. Sets feeling like a journey is the single most important aspect when I look at my own work. Musical journeys can allow someone to let go, to reassess, to expand and to ultimately grow as an individual. By no means is this the sole focus of music, because the amount of happiness and love that arises from purely dancing will always unite us.  With that being said, the experience of a truly moving, heavy musical journey has happened for me on several occasions, and if I can create a space for this to happen to others I will always feel a sense of love in whatever I am working on. 
When we can exist in our own headspace during one of these experiences, without conversation or judgment, even if only for a few moments, amazing things can happen. So my intention with this project is to create mixes that open doors to emotion, thought, self discovery and rising from the darkest areas within ourselves. There is much to be learned in the darkness; facing it head on and coming out on the other side full of light is true fulfillment. I arranged these with intention to travel from mystical curiosity, into shadowed uncertainty, emotional struggle, breaking through, self discovery and ultimately a feeling of triumph and awareness.  Thjs process is how I view our challenges in life, and I hope my musical interpretation has a similar influence.  Enjoy the exploration...
