Right around the same time we started Desert Hearts, we decided to start our own theme camp with our best friends in order to give something back to a city that has given us so much. Just in the same way Desert Hearts grew organically, Pile Palace developed as a passion project. A common goal for all our friends and family to work towards each year. Now 80 camp members strong full of our best friends and family, Pile Palace is the loving back bone of our Desert Hearts Community. You want to know where Desert Hearts gets it's amazing vibe? It's these people right here. They're our inspiration and motivation to make the world a better place and we're so happy to share this new mix series with you.

Thugfucker is Greg Oreck & Holmar Filipsson. A couple of residents of this planet that have dedicated themselves to the debaucherous worship of all good things that can happen in a dark crowded room with good lightning.

On Friday night this unique duo played one of the most incredible and sophisticated sets heard on the Mayan Warrior, watching all of the beats synced with the Sonic Runway made a big highlight of our burn.

Part of the highly regarded Kompakt family, Blond:ish have carved out their own niche thanks to their original sound and fun-loving approach to life.

Better known to their parents as Anstascia D'elene and Vivie Ann Bakos, their productions have found home on labels which include Get Physical, Leftroom and Noir, and they have become a staple on the international club and festival circuit. Learning their trade at Cherry Nightclub in their then home town of Montreal (where they promoted and DJ-ed at their mid-week event called Blond:ish), it was a move to London which lead to a chance meeting with the Kompakt crew through a mutual friend. A series of releases later, in particular 'Endless Games' resonating far and wide, and the Canadians are now card holding members to one of the world's most prestigious imprints.

You would be hard pressed to find a better 2015 LP debut release than their 'Welcome to the Present', an introspective musical journey into back-to-nature mysticism and spiritual groove. The release featured a host of shamanic and organic-sounding instruments, and, with its nod to philosopher Alan Watts, strongly alluded towards their holistic approach to life (and music).

With our 40th podcast next up, the stars have finally aligned for the duo to deliver us a mix that was put together during some time off. ('We made it in Bali in between our yoga, meditation and spa days lol'). It even includes a fresh new production (the first track in the mix), spawned from a very recent recording session they had: 'We made it in a couple hours and just jammed along the groove track'. Featuring music from Ricardo Villalobos, Tuff City Kids, Dorisburg and more, this mix, as Blond:ish puts it, was made for times 'when you wanna get in the groooooove.' And they have absolutely nailed it....

I'm happy to share the audio recording pulled from my live video stream at the Mixmag Lab, NYC (my new home!) My track selections for this one were intended toe the line somewhere between a club gig and a headphones listening mix since there were 100 people on the dance floor but 1000's of people listening at home. These Mixmag Labs tend to reach a wide audience of dance music enthusiasts around the world, so I also made a point to try and showcase a little range of what I'm playing these days. We've admired the way @joe-miller approaches his podcasts for a long time so it made sense to ask him to work his magic with Kiku. He weaves tracks together with such complexity and confidence, creating brief moments of brilliance with unexpected pairings. All 26 tracks from the album feature within the mix, some for a couple of minutes and others for just a few fleeting seconds. His blend of Kiku is a diverse, frantic trip that takes you down many different directions and avenues.

I’ve been obsessed with the multimorphic nature of time. Since March, so much has happened, yet nothing has changed. Every day is a copy, but yesterday feels like a distant dream. Time is abundant and infinite, yet I wonder where it has all gone.

My recent meditations have been extremely vivid. They’ve reminded me to embrace the now, which has diluted into always. Maybe I’m experiencing eternity, a taste of immortality. Sounds like something nice.
