The poem was composed in the autumn of 1938 while Britain awaited the declaration of the Second World War. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

A couple of centuries back, Frédéric Chopin popped aboard the ship for drinks and I secretly recorded him playing this on the bridge.

Myrtle (the ship) mainly hums in C, which worked out rather nicely since this prelude is in C minor.

The little glitch around 1'47 is from when I set down my pipe on the  phonautograph paper. Fool.
