Libero Records head Dan Costello steps up with All About House EP (LBR093), a statement release that captures the essence of the label’s groove-driven ethos. The title track, “All About House,” is a stripped yet infectious roller, powered by crisp percussion, hypnotic low-end, and a strong vocal accent - a pure dance-floor weapon. Its B-side, “Don’t Stop Me,” keeps the formula tight but adds a slightly more driving edge, pushing the energy into peak-time territory. On the remix, rising talent Omari injects a deeper flavour, reworking the original into a late-night cut with slick drum programming and atmospheric flair.
As label boss, Dan Costello continues to set the tone for Libero’s output, and All About House EP is a perfect showcase of the balance between raw energy and refined minimalism that defines the imprint.

ON THEIR RETURN TO DESOLAT BARCELONA BASED MUSICIANS PULSHAR DELIVER A DELICIOUSLY DEEP AND TRIPPY EP

Following on from 2010’s critically acclaimed album ‘Inside’, Spanish duo Sergio S Vidal and Pablo Bolívar aka Pulshar return to Desolat with the ‘Different Drum EP’, and all four tracks showcase the deeply hypnotic yet richly soulful sounds which the duo are synonymous with.

Opener ‘Wasting Time’ is a collaboration with Desolat label head Loco Dice. The track, which was creating during a jam session between these friends, is a deep and twisted journey, with ocean-deep sub-bass, and features Loco Dice’s own distorted vocals which echo in and out of the music.

On ‘So Tired’, Pulshar have expertly crafted a captivating rich soundscape packed full of warm textures and atmospheres. ‘Different Drum’ is a similarly engaging and uplifting track complete with soaring synths and crisp drums.

The 12” is rounded up by the standout ‘She’s Got A Ticket’, with its infectious groove, rich sounds and contagious vocal layered over its psychedelic rhythm.

Wasting time feat. Loco Dice

Butch is rightly regarded as one of the most prolific producers in electronic music, having graced countless revered labels including Sei es Drum, Cocoon, Rekids and Visionquest. 
On FTS he makes his long overdue debut on Desolat with four deep and distinctive tracks. Opening track ‘Pompino’ kicks off the EP with a distorted rhythm and contorted vocals which build and build into a twisted and trippy groove. ‘Dimensions’ follows in a similar vein, developing slowly and building tension until the tracks drops back in a distorted fashion with distinctive bells and unnerving harmonies. B-side ‘Desert Storm’ captivates the listener from the off, with a hypnotic rhythm until the track lives up to its exotic name and sees a wailing vocal comes in and cut through the beat. ‘Sonny Got It Going On’ rounds off the EP in fine style. Proceeding at a slower BPM, it features crisp drums and a dusty gangster-movie sample, culminating in a distinctive and classy slice of electronic music. 
On ‘FTS’ Butch lives up to his billing as one of the finest producers around, delivering a four-track twisted and hedonistic journey through expertly crafted underground sounds.

Not so long ago two great friends left the country where they lived and moved to Brooklyn, NY. There they re-builded their studio, produced new tracks far away from day-in day-out madness of the life they left behind for a while.
In this creative and intimate isolation the idea of the label came up – just like the next step to be taken in their intense relation. In July 2007 this idea became reality when Desolat was born.

Desolat is now a Düsseldorf-based label founded by Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich. Both Dice and Buttrich had a long-standing artistic career in music before they decided to take a challenge and create a platform to release music they like independently and fast.
