Mili - Children Of The City

Kodomo’s full-length debut release – titled Still Life – will be released on October 7th, 2008 on New York’s 5 Points Records.  This release features 9 original tracks and a bonus track, “Spira Mirablis” - currently featured in the MTV/Harmonix iPod video game “Phase.” The concept for the record was born of a series of photographs, each one serving as a springboard for the music.  The album explores how images of environments, landscapes, people, and objects are used to evoke musical ideas; each image giving rise to various rhythms, chords, and sonic textures.  The photos were taken in Italy, China, Japan, Switzerland, & around the US.  The CD release has a deluxe package that includes an expanded booklet featuring all 9 photos.

Interdimensional Parallax

This song is a dive into an atmosphere of distrust and inner anxiety, where the voice of the protagonist balances between resisting external pressures and seeking personal control. The repeated lines about distrust and refusal to accept anything reflect an internal struggle against imposed expectations and rules. The choruses urging “calm down” and “slow down” create a sense of trying to find a pause, a moment of stillness in a chaotic world where every detail feels unpredictable.

Musically, the track evokes experiments with lo-fi, dark hardvapour, and glitch vaportrap sounds: cold, trembling dissonant soundscapes, deep bass, and spacious echoes enhance the feeling of isolation and inner tension. The song feels like a digital nightmare or a nocturnal trip through a maze of thoughts, where every decision exposes vulnerability, and every pause offers a glimpse of control and clarity.

Inspired partially by the band Amaranthe and just a hint of Castlevania. Bit of a weird mix but I like how it turned out :)
