Drawing on releases from the last five years, Dessous Recordings gather together a choice selection of Steve Bug's stellar remixes. It's a compilation that showcases an array of glittering talent and provides a snapshot of the maestro's signature sound. As 'The Long Run' - Bug's collaboration with Victor Font - makes clear, this is house music that sees itself as part of a grand tradition, following in the footsteps of US pioneers from both Chicago and NYC. In line with this, a number of bona fide living legends get the Bug treatment, from the hypnotic vibes of Chez Damier's seminal 'CanYou Feel It' to the blue-tinged chords that lift Ron Allen's 'Wordz' to the brittle semiquavers that act as a perfect foil to the soaring vocals on 'Rise' - an undoubted album highlight.

Within the limits of the deep house blueprint, there are surprises at every turn, from the blissful chords of Lovebirds' 'The Rain' to the immersive repetitions of Martin Müller's youAND:THEMACHINES project to the buoyant pulse of Manuel Tur's 'Ara Anam'. For uncompromising lovers of all things deep, there's Simon Baker's 'Grey Area', lifted by dancing cowbells galore, and a hard-hitting version of Ric McClelland's Scope. And for DJs with an eye on the dancefloor there's Bug's rework of 'At Midnight' - his collaboration with Vincenzo from way back in 2000 - an irresistible groove with an incredibly catchy synth riff.

We're also treated to two re-imaginings of contemporary classics. From earlier this year, there's Bug's stripped-back sub bass heavy version of Garnier's 'Whistle for Frankie' while the deeply reflective take on Francis Harris's 'Pensum' provides the perfect comedown to a glorious long night.

Following releases for the likes of Toy Tonics, Aus Music, Rhythm Section and Kitsuné Musique, Berlin/London based producer Arpy Brown drops the first EP under his own name. Having previously released under the name Athlete Whippet, Arpy is not new to the scene. His music has been supported by the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Mixmag, DJ Mag and Resident Advisor.

2024 has seen Arpy Brown take his joyful, high energy sets that combine club music’s intensity with the charm and intricacy of non-electronic, organic music, to stages across mainland Europe, the UK and as far as Australia and New Zealand. 2025 is a year of next steps for Arpy, with him launching his new live set alongside his new EP 'Fantasy' on Toy Tonics. 
On this EP, Arpy has truly found his voice. After having dabbled with adding his own vocals into his productions on recent records, this 4-tracker features present lead vocals by Arpy on all tracks; an element that is also key to the new live show. Kicking the year off with some debut shows in Southeast Asia, Arpy is set to return to Panorama Bar, alongside other legendary venues such as London's Village Underground and Oslo's Jaeger.

Taking a communal approach to music making, Robin co-founded Athlete Whippet together with long-term friend and collaborator Aviram Barath, who he co-ran artist collective and record label Squareglass with at the time. In line with this ethos, he's also been hosting intimate nights with DJs from far across the electronic music ecosystem since 2019. Guest sets from the likes of Seb Wildblood, Jitwam, Rebecca Vasmant, Fouk, Amy Dabbs, Hidden Spheres, Will Saul and some of the scene's brightest new talents have made for some unmissable parties in London's and Berlin's cosiest venues.

Arpy Brown's releases have also come with reworks from Ross from Friends, Baltra and Max Graef.

Thierry Tomas wears his influences on his sleeve on this new one for Deeppa Records with elements of jazz, deep house and electronica all making themselves known. The title cut 'Why Why' is a lovely loose limbed jumble of live-sounding percussion and stylish vocal soul, and the revered Fred Everything reworks it into a lush, pad-laced daydream. 'Life's Great' is a playful, shuffling groove with lovely swing, and 'Blue Birds Fly' then hist harder with hypnotic piano. Last of all, 'Dad's Vinyl' is a nice smoky and jazzy grove marbled with great samples and a carefree vibe.

Dusky techno disco tools on this fifth new one from Shadow Pressings, a UK outfit who've here nonetheless titularly alluded to the Chicago house scene. Of course, not all of us can afford to fly out to Illinois on a whim, and many of us prefer instead to let the city's long-release intoxicant effect run its course on the collective ear from a distance. The label-artist here proffers the gruffer stuff, from the grunting percs of 'Tears' through to the smoother high piquancies of 'Lost In The Dance', both of which nail that irreverent, not-too-much mood innate to all the best dance music.
