For their first ever double-LP outing Razor-N-Tape presents POOLS, with a sun-drenched and laid-back collection of tunes called Innertubes. POOLS, the moniker of Los Angeles duo Thee Mike Bee and DJ Morsecode, craft a sound that conjures up the easy going swagger and soulful grit of the left-most coast. The first two sides of original versions read like an album, perfect for a lazy Sunday rooftop BBQ with beers, bros and blunts, (although no doubt some of these gems will find their way into DJs' warm-up and boom-bap sets). Sides C & D elevate the juncture to dance floor level, with smooth and varied remixes from RNT stalwarts Luvless and DJ Vas, plus label newcomers thatmanmonkz and Junktion.

Long an unsung hero of the underground, Langenberg (a.k.a Max Heesen) has a string of quality releases to his name, both on his own solo as a part of his Ribn moniker with Manuel Tur. This outing on Dessous Recordings provides yet another string to his bow; 'Shadows' is a supremely soulful outing featuring the vocal talents of Blakkat. Liquid deep and balanced perfectly between euphoric and melancholic, 'Shadow' sees Mark Bell (Blakkat) deliver an emotional invocation over a beautifully crafted track, with echoes of the master Larry Heard clearly present.

Also included in the release are three extraordinary remixes - UK legend Atjazz providing a sumptuously realized fusion of melody and driving, dancefloor urgency - both as a vocal and instrumental version.

Brooklyn’s house veterans Frank & Tony (Scissor & THread) drop a huge remix of their own to complete the package – serving up their distinctive and timeless NYC deep and raw vibes to complement Langenberg’s original fully.

Thirty years ago, British youth culture was changed forever. The Summer of Love in 1988 saw House music spread like wildfire over the country, with thousands of young people dancing in fields, clubs and any spaces they could find. 

One of the tracks that truly encapsulated this magical time was Stirling Void's 'It's Alright'. Originally released on Chicago's seminal label DJ International, the spine-chilling lyrics of positivity resonated in the hearts and minds of the Acid House generation and are more relevant in today's climate than ever. To celebrate 30 years since the Summer of Love, Toolroom is proud to present a monumental remix package of this all-time classic, alongside the fully re-mastered original.

First up on remix duties is one of house music's most intriguing artists. Adesse Versions has a back catalogue of highly sought-after records, and he's treated this remix with utmost respect, keeping the track's essence and identity, but adding a new layer of raw warmth and subliminal melody. House legend DJ Spen has stepped up to the plate with his own interpretation. His jazzy, soulful keys have added a layer of polish and musicality to the track, which combine beautifully with Paris Brightledge's iconic vocals.

Boss-man Mark Knight has aimed squarely for the dancefloor. Adding energy, drive and momentum, he's created a version that can be played out in peak time sets across the globe. And finally Amine Edge & Dance bring their trademark stripped-back, bumpy grooves which will no-doubt bring this classic to the next generation of young clubbers looking to lose themselves on the dancefloor.

Loz Goddard is a Manchester based musician and DJ who has been producing records for the likes of Outplay, Razor-N-Tape, Quintessentials, Secret Reels and Large. When he isn't working on his own beats, Mr. Goddard runs one of the most underrated radio shows on the internet known as Downtown Groove Sessions, where he invites artists from near and far to share some of the most promising and upcoming deep house tracks on the horizon. Personally, his shows have played an integral role in exposing me to some of the best songs the underground has to offer and I could not be more appreciative.

We were lucky enough to interview Loz about a year and a half ago, in which he compiled a mix for us and taught us how to grow fine chilies. Since that time, Loz has taken a bit of a break from producing but appears to be getting back into the groove with his upcoming release Find Me on the prestigious imprint Church. Featuring a collection of three originals and a remix from the lads of Session Victim, we are definitely glad that he has finally got the juices flowing again. This occurrence may or may not be chili related.

For his title track, which we are premiering for you guys today, Loz puts together his own unique brand of melodic, deep house in which he pairs an eclectic mix of jazz instrumentation with rolling basslines and steadfast percussion - the likes of which resembles the work of contemporaries such as Laurence Guy. Arguably the most memorable and captivating feature of the song has to be the sampled vocal that is laid out throughout its entirety. Smokey and evocative, this mysterious voice will leave you feeling hot and bothered with its faint whispers imploring you to come find it. I don't know where this person is, but this song makes me want to start looking immediately.
